谁敢当新7公主？7 Princesses in Crisis?

I felt the same way when I first got hold of the names of the hosts for a new show ‘Lodge With Me 我行我宿’–a new travelogue in search of the most beautiful 民宿 (home-stay hotels) in Asia…

It is a travelogue to 4 different countries hosted by some of the 7 Princesses but only 3 on the list are ‘reigning’ princesses – Rui En 瑞恩 (Autumn), Felicia Chin 陈靓瑄 (Spring), Fiona Xie 谢宛谕 (Winter) and a new name popped out – Kola Zhou Ying 周颖! Like how i-Weekly put it, I am surprised about how fast Kola is joining the company of the princesses…(for those who have no idea about Kola, click video link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sh0BeZp_wTY)

Kola Zhou Ying was a Star Search finalist and she was last seen in a small role in the local drama ‘乒乓圆Table of Glory’. Her short but small part in that drama caught the attention of the Executive Producer of this year’s anniversary drama ‘当我们同在一起Together’ (debuts 30 November at 9pm) and she was brought back to Singapore to play an important lead role in the drama (sign of a rising star?)!

Kola speaks pitch-perfect Mandarin (she is also a Shanghainese and as eloquent as fellow Shanghainese star Dai Yang Tian 戴阳天). Hosting comes naturally to her and I am sure she will be a good host…

Is Kola Zhou Ying 周颖 your choice of a strong contender to replace any one of the 7 Princesses 公主? If so, who would that be in your opinion to ‘leave’ the 7 Princesses ‘throne’ for good (may not necessarily be a bad thing)?

For fans of the various hosts, ‘Lodge With Me 我行我宿’will only telecast in May 2010. But filming will start soon to catch the 4 seasons – Rui En will leave for Japan to catch the beautiful changing autumn season. Fiona will catch Korea in Winter and Felicia will be basking in the beauty of Spring in Taiwan. Kola will take on 热情盛夏 Summer of Thailand…

This travelogue is not the typical crazy-shout-and-scream show. It allows the host say Rui En to be herself – her personality as a 独特性情中人 echoing similar attitude, essence, spirit and identity of the 民宿 in that country….

Maybe we should ditch the ‘7 公主Princesses’ title and call these 4 hosts 四季美人or 民宿四美?

‘Together’ 20th Countdown Day & Roadshow (Video Included)

It’s the very powerful 陈丽贞 Aileen Tan’s turn. I especially like this ‘Together 当我们同在一起’ countdown spot. Only the capable Aileen is able to deliver a comedic scene without over-doing it. It may be a supporting role but it is not how long you stayed on in a drama but how brilliant you played it…be it just for a few minutes. Look at the intense drama in her eyes! Gosh! Somebody please give her a 红星大奖 Star Awards!

Time really flies…it was only the 100th Countdown Day a while ago when I first started posting about it and here we are today – down to the 20th Day (10 Nov Tuesday)… You are looking at some of the best veteran stars in this drama…look at 林丽云 Lin Li Yun and 李文海 Li Wen Hai (above photos)…so drama without much body movements…this show is also a tribute to the best veteren artistes in Singapore! ‘Together 当我们同在一起’ will debut on 30 November at 9pm on Channel 8 (36 episodes).

We are pulling our hair trying to figure out how best to distribute the calendars and notebooks at the roadshow. We hope we won’t end up like the photo on top when we have to ‘control’ the crowd surging forward…hehe. We will probably give out 500 sets but only the 1st 150 in the frontline queue gets to go on stage to get the cast’s autographs on the notebooks. If you have a brilliant suggestion as to how best to manage the flow of traffic, distribution and fairness, drop me a suggestion, please.

戴阳天 Dai Yang Tian and 白薇秀 Joanne Peh are confirmed as leading male and female stars for the Chinese New Year’s movie project! If you have grabbed the latest i-Weekly, you would have already read about it… 

Dai Yang Tian stars as the main lead: 外型高大英俊，乐观幽默，平时一副游戏人间的模样，但是一旦投入工作，则非常严肃认真.

机智有胆识，对队友，不论性别，都要求严格，显出男子汉的大喇喇强悍作风与魅力。其实另有铁汉柔情的一面，重情义，工作以外，对女性细腻、温柔，有求必应，难免让人误会他多情、甚至滥情。DYT will have to make many tough decisions between 友情, 亲情 and 爱情.

以几个男女保镖为连贯性的人物，贯穿五集故事，在他们身上发生的爱情、友情、亲情故事，每一集又加入不同的新主角人物，自成一个独立故事，以不同的风格呈现：温情、写实、激情，惊险，悬疑兼而有之。The tele-movie which does not have a title yet is actually 10 hours in duration but will be divided into 5 parts (2 hours each).

Joanne Peh plays the female lead who is人如其名，率直纯真，性格爽朗，外表看似柔弱，其实是柔道黑带，父亲是醒狮队的负责人，由于父亲患心脏病，不能太操劳，她唯有接手父亲的醒狮队事务，虽然是女性，在以男性为中心的醒狮队和保镖行里，她都和大家相处愉快，如鱼得水，酷爱热闹的她，喜欢和几个男保镖一起喝酒聊天，出外表演舞狮…until one day…

There’ll be a lot of drama between Joanne and DYT and in between them comes this new actor…Pornsak!

Yes, this tele-movie will also star Pornsak in his maiden movie role.

An important lead role just next to DYT, Pornsak will play this 家里的独生子，父亲最大的愿望就是栽培他读上大学，偏偏高中时期，因为一次学生集体考试作弊事件被无辜牵连，连高中也毕不了业，父亲带着遗憾离世，他也因此和好同学DYT绝袂，直到许多年后重逢，成了同事和舞狮队队友，这段堙没的当年往事又被记起…

This may be Pornsak’s 1^st big movie role but definitely not his 1^st acting gig.

He will 1st be seen in a new dramedy  ‘妙探夫妻档 Mr & Mrs Kok’ (press conference on Tuesday 10 Nov).

A Chinese New Year’s movie cannot do without a fun lead character and 李国煌Mark Lee will play this guy known as ‘Auntie’.

虽然外型高大，但除了是男性，其性格和行为作风和Auntie没两样，但他以前没当保镖之前不是这样的，他原来是个警察，热爱他的工作，工作时有拼命三郎的作风，可是当年因为一次办案不利，被陷害撤职，从此志气消沉，性格大变没有大志，在众同事眼中，是个遇到危险就第一个跑的胆小窝囊。

多年后，当他知道当年是旧同僚所害，愤然与旧同僚决裂，但是，当好友再次遇难，他还是顾念友情，奋不顾身的解救…but…

The last time we did tele-movie was more than 10 years ago. This Channel 8’s CNY tele-movie will telecast on the following dates:

Sundays 8-10pm on 17^th Jan, 24^th Jan, 31^st Jan and 7 Feb…but the Finale will be on a Saturday 13^th February at 8pm.

I will be covering the press conference on Tuesday (10 Nov) of a new dramedy ‘妙探夫妻档 Mr & Mrs Kok’ (a non MediaCorp’s production starring Mark Lee and a powerful female lead star plus many other big stars and it was filmed with a visual texture like the drama ‘一切完美 Perfect Cut’ )…

Dramas in the 2nd half of 2010

You have probably found out all about the upcoming dramas in the 1st half of 2010: 过好年 Happy Family (Jan), 游戏人生 Priceless Wonder (Feb), 五福到 The Best Things In Life (Mar) and 红白喜事 New Beginnings (Apr)…but what do we have for the 2nd half? I don’t have much details but I can share with you briefly what the upcoming ones are like…

见鬼? It’s a supernatural genre but not the scary long hair in white robe  贞子 type but expect a light-hearted plus heart-warming genre about a male ghost (lead role) who befriends the man (also lead role) responsible indirectly for his death…casting almost complete…

You get to see a new drama about 3 Women caught up with a baby. They are not your typical housewives or homemakers but women-on-top, women-in -harged kind of working ladies. The story will start off with a TV production trying to film ‘奶爸百分百 Daddy Nanny 2′…

You will also get your dosage of ‘任我敖游 The Champion’ + ‘兵乓园 Table of Glory’ + 音乐 Music + 偶像 Idol kind of a genre in 2010. It will feature some kind of a water sport and will require young looking idols to play the roles. I hear the production will be sourcing  for new idol faces outside MediaCorp as well…

We will launch a new genre investigative thriller. It is an exciting genre with missing cases to solve  by the 2 main female characters – a CID and an Informant 线人. 

‘Lawyers’ will take over in one of the months and this time we will move to the family court. It’s a legal profession-based social drama genre.

Plus, a new pending genre just before the annivesary drama.

Yes, the year end anniversary drama ‘A Song To Remember’ will be a whole new genre with its own audio soundtrack and an album of more than 10 original songs. It’s the late 30s and will involve many stars. A 天才 musician, a gung-ho upcoming songstress, a good-to-evil songstress, a modern day ‘Robinhood’, etc…you get the colorful cabaret set plus lots of songs and dance movie pacing kind of a drama genre written by the writer behind ‘The Little Nyonya’ and ‘Together’.

I don’t have much information on the cast as many are not into that stage yet but I think you will definitely find your favorite stars in them and expect to see the rise of new faces or some artistes becoming ‘big’ time stars in these dramas…

Dai Yang Tian stripped for ‘Together’ Launch Campaign 2

It’s the 2nd version of the launch campaign and you can catch Dai Yang Tian stripping for the first time on television…haha…

It was the year when National Service was introduced so all guys at age 18 had to strip for health check when they were enlisted for national service mah…

If you ask your parents, it was also the time when there was the famous Robinson’s fire, Hong Kong’s flu (it was as scary as SARS and H1N1 then), plus the public panicked for fear of a shortage in rice, etc… All these events took place during those years and I am sure some of you or your parents may have memories of those yester-years…

‘Together 当我们同在一起’ Launch Campaign Version 1

For all fans and supporters keenly awaiting the telecast of Channel 8’s 46th anniversary drama ‘Together 当我们同在一起’, here’s the 1st version of the launch campaign. 观众指《添丁发财》 结局剧情不合逻辑

郑斌辉在《添》剧中化身老土的中年汉。他和陈靓瑄的爱情，让观众有点错愕，觉得不合逻辑。

《添丁发财》大结局，让两个从未产生“火花”的男女主角恋爱，让观众直呼不合逻辑。

在《添丁发财》中饰演“宅男”的郑斌辉，一直以来都对饰演“郑晓阳”的刘芷绚情有独钟，而且，由始至终都不离不弃。

然而，刘芷绚在大结局终于说要和郑斌辉在一起，可是郑斌辉这才发现，自己原来喜欢饰演“阿莲”的陈靓瑄。

由于郑斌辉在《添丁发财》的前22集，都没有与陈靓瑄有任何“爱的火花”，昨晚的大结局“突然”安排两人在一起，让观众觉得有点错愕，认为似乎太说不过去。

参与演出《添丁发财》的还有林明伦、杨伟烈、向云、朱厚任、林梅娇，以及灵魂人物“Olympic”庄恩扬等。

陈国明：

朋友变情人 例子相当多

新传媒中文节目与宣传企划部副总裁陈国明今早说，从多年的好友，最终演变成情侣的剧情，其实现实生活的例子就不少。

他举例，本地演艺圈就有一个类似的例子，唐育书和曾诗梅在结成夫妻之前，就是多年的好朋友。他们是后来才慢慢从好友演变成情侣，然后共结连理。

他笑言：“《添丁发财》的宅男和阿莲在一起，这就是所谓的‘不是冤家不聚头’。他们以前就是很好的朋友，后来演变成情侣，一点也不会不合逻辑。就算是两人互动多，或是经常有‘火花’，也并不代表两人有缘分，会走在一起。”

苏美莲：

爱情刚萌芽1集交代不来

《添丁发财》监制苏美莲今早受访表示，郑斌辉和陈靓瑄在最后一集在一起，其实是他们的爱情刚刚萌芽之时。

她赞同可能播出的时间只有一集，剧情无法好好酝酿出两人爱情的深厚，所以才会让观众认为不合逻辑。

“其实感情很微妙，郑斌辉所饰演的角色，一直义无反顾地视刘芷绚为目标，其实这反而忽略了每天陪在身边的人。由于太习惯对方的存在，因此并不知道，其实对方在心里的重要性。”

她解释道，这段爱情的转折点，其实就在郑斌辉看到杨伟烈与陈靓瑄在一起时，竟然心底有点刺痛，后来与刘芷绚分手后，发现原来他并不伤心。

演情侣朝夕相对 戴阳天欧萱戏假情真？

新传媒年度大戏《当我们同在一起》即将在11月18日杀青，剧中第一男女主角戴阳天（阳阳）和欧萱，在剧中饰演一对小情人，两人4个月来朝夕相处，是否日久生情假戏真做？

阳阳分析，他是一个比较慢热的演员，进入和抽离角色因此对他来说也相对困难，所以《当》拍到后期，彼此相处很长一段日子，他和欧萱也建立了一定的情感。阳阳直言：“跟《小娘惹》不同，我们都很用心地交流沟通。这部戏我开始感受到她给我的东西，大家的感觉也比较融合。拍到现在，可以说我真的蛮爱她的！嗯，我不否认会爱上像欧萱这样的女生。就是很小家碧玉，可以保护她。”

阳阳说，他的戏里饰演的小杯，跟欧萱饰演的剑红，是一对有心灵感应的情人，彼此化学反应很好。

问阳阳现实生活中会不会对欧萱展开追求，他笑说：“现实是需要很多时间去铺排的，拍完这个剧，大家也会各忙各的了，要再碰上也不是那么容易。这跟拍戏不同，因为剧本和情节都是安排好的。”私底下会不会约欧萱出来吃饭、看戏？

“戏拍完之后，我一定会请整个剧组吃饭。大家拍那么久的戏，在马来西亚一个多月，培养了很深的感情，让我感觉到团队的凝聚力，而不单只是工作而已。”
