Iron Man 3 Movie Review

Plot:

Tony Stark recalls a New Years Eve party in 1999 with scientist Maya Hansen, inventor ofExtremis—an experimental regenerative treatment intended to allow recovery from crippling injuries. Disabled scientist Aldrich Killian offers them a place in his company Advanced Idea Mechanics, but is turned down.

Years later, Stark’s experiences during the alien invasion of New York are giving him panic attacks. Restless, he has built several Iron Man suits, creating friction with his girlfriendPepper Potts. A string of bombings by terrorist the Mandarin has left intelligence agencies bewildered by lack of forensic evidence. When Stark Industries security chief Happy Hoganis badly injured in one such attack, Stark overcomes his stupor and issues a televised threat to the Mandarin, who responds by destroying Stark’s home with helicopter gunships. Hansen, who had come to warn Stark, and Potts survive the attack. Stark then finds himself in rural Tennessee after his artificial intelligenceJARVIS followed a flight plan from Stark’s investigation into the Mandarin. Stark’s experimental armor lacks sufficient power to return to California, and the world believes him dead.

Teaming with Harley, a precocious 10-year-old boy, Stark investigates the remains of a local explosion bearing the hallmarks of a Mandarin attack. He discovers the “bombings” were triggered by soldiers subjected to Extremis, which at this stage of development can cause certain subjects to explosively reject it. After veterans started exploding, their deaths were used to cover up Extremis’ flaws by manufacturing a terrorist plot. Stark witnesses Extremis firsthand when Mandarin agents Ellen Brandt and Eric Savin attack him.

With Harley’s help, Stark traces the Mandarin to Miami and infiltrates his headquarters using improvised weapons. Inside he discovers the Mandarin is actually a British actor, Trevor Slattery, who says that he is oblivious to the actions carried out in his name. The Mandarin is a creation of Killian, who appropriated Hansen’s Extremis research as a cure for his own disability and expanded the program to include injured war veterans. After capturing Stark, Killian reveals he is the true Mandarin; he has kidnapped Potts and subjected her to Extremis to gain Stark’s aid in fixing Extremis’ flaws and thereby saving Pepper. Killian kills Hansen when she has a change of heart about the plan.

Killian has also manipulated American intelligence agencies regarding the Mandarin’s location, luring James Rhodes—the former War Machine, now re-branded as the Iron Patriot—into a trap to steal the armor. Stark escapes and reunites with Rhodes, discovering that Killian intends to attack President Ellis aboard Air Force One. Remotely controlling his Iron Man armor, Stark saves some surviving passengers and crew but cannot stop Killian from abducting Ellis. They trace Killian to an impounded oil-drilling platform where Killian intends to kill Ellis on live television. The vice president will become a puppet leader, following Killian’s orders in exchange for Extremis to cure his daughter’s disability.

On the platform, Stark goes to save Potts, and Rhodes saves the president. Stark summons each of his Iron Man suits, controlled remotely by JARVIS, to provide air support. Rhodes secures the president and leads him to safety, while Stark discovers Potts has survived the Extremis procedure. However, before he can save her, a rig collapses around them and she falls to her apparent death. Stark confronts Killian and traps him in an Iron Man suit that self-destructs, but fails to kill him. Potts, whose Extremis powers allowed her to survive her fall, intervenes and kills Killian.

After the battle, Stark orders JARVIS to destroy each Iron Man suit as a sign of his intention to devote more time to Potts. The vice president and Slattery are arrested. With Stark’s help, Potts’ Extremis effects are stabilized, and Stark undergoes surgery to remove the shrapnel embedded near his heart. He pitches his obsolete chest arc reactor into the sea, musing he will always be Iron Man.

In a present day post-credits scene, Stark wakes up Dr. Bruce Banner, who fell asleep listening at the beginning of Stark’s story.

I’m not a superrrrrrr big fan of Iron Man to be honest. But i did watched part 1 and part 2. And it seems its getting quite a lot of good comments from my friends. And this time 5 of us watched together, and surprisingly this is the second time for 3 of them. Wow..Its hardly for them to watch a movie for 2 times..lol..

Ok seriously for i think its really good..Tony Stark is a character that have different characteristics on him, thats what i like about him. Story is good, sfx is good!

VFX is stunning as well..Really love it..And most importantly, the suits..Gosh, seeing all the suits appearing together is like smoking weeds..Had goosebumps lol.

Overall its really great. 9/10

Ip Man: The Final Fight 叶问：终极一战

Went to watch IP Man : The final fight..Part 1 and part 2 were really really good and i was quite anticipating for this.

Plot:

In 1949, Ip Man, who has been suffering from chronic gastric problems, travels alone to Hong Kong to seek new means of livelihood. He starts by teaching Wing Chun on the rooftop of a building which houses a hotel staff’s general association. He meets and accepts many new students, including Tang Shing, Leung Sheung, Lee King and Chan Sei-mui. During that period of time, Ip Man’s wife Cheung Wing-sing also comes to Hong Kong to join her husband, but returns to Foshan shortly after because life in Hong Kong is hard. The couple never saw each other again.

Ip Man: The Final Fight portrays a realistic account of Ip Man’s later life in Hong Kong: he struggles against the vicissitudes of life; he insists on pursuing a romance with the singer Jenny after his wife’s death, against the wishes of his disciples; his father-son and master-apprentice relationships with his elder son Ip Chun; his thoughts on Bruce Lee, who would become his most celebrated student.

Hmm but it turns out not that good that i expected. Storyline was more focus on his later life. 80%-90% of the movie were talking like how he behave in his daily life, about his wife, his students etc. Well, its not boring, but just that the selling point of IP man supposed to be more to using Wing Chun during conflicts or something laidat.

Even the ending also does not really leave a big impact until it gives me goosebump like part 2..

Secondly, this time they also rebuild the whole environment but the set location does not look realistic enough..It just don’t really bring me into that generation.

Thirdly, somehow the cast also not really suitable for the role of Ip Man. Im not sure why or maybe Donnie Yen in part 2 left too deep impression in me.

If you are a fan of Ip Man film, still worth to catch it though.

The Croods

Went for a 10pm movie with friends after sooo long..Not sure when is the last time we had movie together..

 

Plot:

The film starts with Eep (Emma Stone), a girl in a family of NeanderthalCavemen (homo neanderthalensis) living in pre-historic times, talking about how her family is one of the few to survive nearby, mainly due to the strict rules of her overprotective father Grug (Nicolas Cage). When in their cave home, Grug tells a story to the rest of the family which includes his wife Ugga (Catherine Keener), his daughter Sandy (Randy Thom), his son Thunk (Clark Duke), and his mother-in-law (Cloris Leachman) with a character that mirrors Eep’s curious nature. He uses this story to warn the family that exploration and ‘new things’ pose a threat to their survival. This irritates the bored and adventurous Eep, and when the family falls asleep after dark, she ignores her father’s advice, and leaves the cave.

While venturing off, she meets Guy (Ryan Reynolds), an intelligent caveboy (homo sapien). She becomes fascinated with the fire he manages to create and is eager to learn more. He tells her about his theory that the world is reaching its ‘end,’ before giving her a noise-making horn to call him if she feels the need for help. He then abandons Eep, who is then caught by Grug (who had been frantically searching for her). Much later, he brings her back home, only to find that their cave home has collapsed from an earthquake. All the family then climb over the wreckage to discover an other-worldly land, much different from their usual surroundings of rocky terrain.

While becoming aware of their new surroundings, the family are attacked by some deadly red-furred birds. In an act of panic, Eep sounds a horn similar to that which Guy gave her. Guy hears this and rushes to her. Thinking quickly, he creates a torch of fire, which scares the birds away. The rest of the family are then captivated by the fire, having never seen it before. They steal Guy’s torch and accidentally set the land around them up in flames. Eventually some giant corn is lit, which all rockets up to the sky, prompting a display of fireworks. After feeling impressed with Guy’s intelligence and mind of ‘ideas,’ Grug bottles him in a hollow log to carry him in, then suggests that they take solitude in the cave of a nearby mountain mentioned by Guy. Guy is forcibly persuaded to lead the way, and soon begins to learn of the Croods’ way of living, which he thinks of as unusual.

After an unsuccessful hunting attempt, Guy along with his ‘pet’ sloth, Belt (Chris Sanders), as well as Eep, build a puppet to fool and lure nearby animals. Having captured something afterwards, the family greedily devour everything they caught. Guy and Eep, however, are more sparing. The others realize their greediness and stop eating. Grug then tells another of his morale-lowering tales, this time mirroring the events of their day, mentioning a girl Grug and Ugga had before Eep was born who did venture away from her cave and died. Guy then tells a story of his own, about a paradise he nicknames “Tomorrow.”

In the morning, the family reaches a path coated in spiked rocks. A freed Guy then presents one of his various inventions called shoes. He makes some out of all the resources he can find, for each family member. This gains him some respect from the others, except for Grug, who starts to feel jealous of Guy’s cleverness. After a slew of Guy’s ideas help the Croods on their continuing journey, they all reach a tree to stop for another night. Everyone but Grug decide to change their path to “Tomorrow.” The next day, a ‘desperate’ and left-out Grug shows the others some of his ideas, which all end up failing. Grug, unable to convince the family that settling in a cave is a better option, reaches to full anger, and proceeds to attack Guy. The two become stuck in tar and Guy reveals his family died drowning in it. Grug has a change of heart towards Guy, before he and Guy free themselves.

They all reach the land of “Tomorrow” just in time. Grug throws them over the pit so they can cross. Then he uses a decaying skeleton carried by birds, to transport himself there barely escaping the oncoming destruction. He and the whole Crood family settle down as Grug becomes less protective, letting the family be more adventurous and risk-taking, thus bringing happiness to them all.

Yeap, another animated film by Dreamworks and main lead voice over by Nicolas Cage and Emma Stone.

Talking about character design, i would still prefer Brave..Its really much better..But then, this has a lottttttt of characters and their environment are really nice too.

What i like the most is the story. A mixture of touching and humourous..Too many funny scenes lol..You also get to feel the family love and how the father willing to sacrifice for the kids. =) I believe some of you might cry when the movie get to almost the end.

Songs are pretty similiar to Brave i would say. and the official soundtrack ” SHINE YOUR WAY” was sang by Yuna and Owl City!

fyi, Yuna is a Malaysia singer. Woot~ Awesome.

Just get back to KL few days ago and suddenly family decided to grab a movie at 12.30am midnight! Been such along time nvr watch movie in this time slot.

Went with siblings and also this is my first time movie with daddy! wow

电影述说一对计划要结婚的情侣伟杰（阿牛饰）和Tina（江若琳饰），伟杰是来自一个谦卑的大马福建家庭，到新加坡当工程师。相反的，未婚妻Tina是一位新加坡广东人，出生于富裕的家庭背景。他们决定结婚后接下来要面对的就是双方家人，比如财富的差距，新加坡与大马，福建与广东文化的不同，差点让婚礼筹备停止。为了表示对未来岳父岳母的诚意与决心，伟杰答应将在新加坡举行一个奢侈和豪华的婚礼。

Of coz its stil starring the same lead cast 阿牛饰 and the pretty Elanne Kwong 江若琳! Also with the supporting casts remained. But this time a few people like 王心如 & 杜汶泽 made a special appearance too.

Hmm..To be honest i would say part 1 is funnier and the story is more focus too. Part 2 i was expecting the story to focus on how the husband and wife life will be after having the baby. But in fact, there’s another big role acted by 王心如 was introduced which doesn’t fully make sense because this is not happening to EVERY families. Thus a bit misleading for me.

Ah Boys to Men 新兵正传

Another movie with friends..CZ12, The Hobbit, Les Miserables, Ah boys to Men all are in pending list.

But after that we decided to watch Ah boys to Men since all of have not watched yet.

Plot:

Ah Boys to Men: Part One opens with the Republic of Singapore apparently being under an immense terrorist attack, with iconic Singaporean landmarks (such as the Merlion and theEsplanade) coming under fire and many civilians killed brutally. It is later revealed that the war was fictitious setting of a war-based role-playing game played by Ken Chow (Joshua Tan), a rich and spoiled child reluctant to enlist into National Service. Ken plans to study abroad with his girlfriend (Qiu Qiu), but his plans are derailed by NS. As Ken leaves the gaming centre, his girlfriend chides him for his childishness. In a bid to prove his bravery, Ken kicks a rubbish bin, to be apprehended by two policemen in the vicinity, as his girlfriend walks away, disappointed and embarrassed. Back home, after being driven back by his father (Richard Low), Ken confides to his parents about his fears of National Service. His overprotective mother (Irene Ang) decides to help him think of ways to defer, but to no avail. Eventually, they are all forced to face the hard truth – there is no going against the law. The Chow family sadly send off Ken on the day of his enlisting. Thereafter, Ken and a few other recruits are assigned to Ninja Company (Platoon 2, Section 2) and are sent to their bunk and introduced to their Platoon Sergeant (Tosh Rock Zhang), a portrayal of the tough-nails sergeant stereotype. Whilst waiting for the mandatory haircut, Ken gets to know a few people – “Lobang” (Wang Wei Liang), Aloysius Jing Sia-lan [Sia-lan being a reference to a crude Hokkien slang term meaning extreme disgrace] (Maxi Lim) and “I.P. Man” (Noah Yap).

After a two weeks’ worth of training, Ken and the other recruits are allowed to book out. A lavish party is thrown to celebrate Ken’s return, but his mood is ruined when he is shown a photo of his girlfriend with another man. Ken angrily confronts her and demands that they meet, which she agrees to. She later admits that she has fallen for another man and dumps Ken on the highway. Determined to win her back, Ken devises a plan to escape from Pulau Tekong and send her off, for he feels she is merely just testing him. Ken stops drinking water, in hopes to get a heat stroke, for which he would be sent home for ten days; he takes the extra measure of sleeping under a ceiling-fan after dousing himself in cold water . However, he gets into a situation worse than expected and he is quickly sent off to a hospital after collapsing during training. Ken’s father is alerted of his son’s critical condition while in a company meeting. He quickly drives off to the hospital, but the shock and strain is too much and suffers a heart attack while driving and violently collides with another vehicle.

Ken wakes up in the next scene, surrounded by his two sisters, in a hospital ward. He realises his foolish actions have caused much trouble for many people and cannot bear to face his father, who has survived the car crash and is recuperating in another ward in the same hospital. Awakened to reality, Ken is finally fit enough to go back to training. The episode ends at this junction, and snippets of the next episode are shown.

Early part was a bit lame though. Not gonna reveal much. Watch it yourself..For the action part, its a nice try though especially for Msia and Sg movies. Its kinda rare to see this kind of sci fi scenes. lol. For the vfx, i would say it has a very very big room of improvement to reach hollywood level. The explosions, fires etc.

For the story..I was laughing throughout the whole movies. The story involves everything in NS, family and couple relationship. Haha..You will understand better and join in the laughter if you understand Hokkien. Quite nice though!

Besides, esp us Malaysians, make us more familiar with the stuffs going on in Singapore..like their rules, what they do, where is their training location etc. I guess it has big big difference from what National service in malaysia had..lolol

Also the casts are new from what we seen from the previous movies from Jack Neo..This time they are focus more on bloggers and vloggers i think like Noah, Tosh, Qiu qiu..They did a good job especially Tosh Rock Zhang..Love his role as the sergeant! Not to forget Lobang King that bring most of the laughters to us. lol

Don stress and have a good laugh in the cinema!

Life of Pi

Seeing all the presentation has finished..As usual 4 of us went for movie just now..

Plot:

Pi Patel, an immigrant from India living in Canada, is approached by a local novelist who has been referred to him by his “uncle” (a family friend), believing that Pi’s life story would make a great book. Pi relates an extended tale:

He is named “Piscine Molitor” by his parents after a swimming pool in France. He changes his name to “Pi” when he begins secondary school, because he is tired of being taunted with the nickname “Pissing Patel”. His family owns a local zoo, and Pi takes a curious interest in the animals, especially a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker (after a clerical error); to teach him the reality of the tiger’s nature as a carnivore, Pi’s father forces him to witness it killing a goat. He is raised Hindu and vegetarian, but at 12 years old, he is introduced to Christianityand then Islam, and starts to follow all three religions (as an adult he states that he is Catholic-Hindu, and when asked if he is also Jewish, he replies that he lectures in Kabbalahat the university).

When he is 16 (and experiencing first love), his father decides to close the zoo, and move to Canada due to political concerns in India. They book passage for themselves and their animals (to be sold in North America) on a Japanese freighter named the Tsimtsum. The ship encounters a heavy storm and begins to sink while Pi is on deck marveling at it. He tries to find his family, but is thrown overboard with a lifeboat, and watches helplessly as the ship sinks, killing his family and its crew.

After the storm, Pi finds himself in the lifeboat with an injured zebra, and is joined by anorangutan who lost her child in the shipwreck. A hyena emerges from the tarp covering half of the boat, and before long begins to eat the injured zebra, killing it. To Pi’s distress, the hyena also mortally wounds the orangutan in a fight. Suddenly Richard Parker emerges from under the tarp, and kills the hyena.

Pi finds emergency food and water rations on the boat, and builds a small raft of floatation devices for him to stay at a safe distance from Richard Parker. Realizing that he must feed the tiger to protect himself, Pi begins fishing, with some success. He also collects rain water for both to drink, and helps a desperate Richard Parker climb back into the boat after the cat leaves it to hunt fish. In a nighttime encounter with a breaching whale, Pi loses much of his supplies, and faced with starvation eats fish himself. After many days at sea Pi realizes that he can no longer live on the tiny raft and trains Richard Parker to accept him in the boat. He also realizes that caring for the tiger is keeping him alive.

After weeks longer at sea, they reach a floating island of edible algae supporting a forest, fresh water, and a large population of meerkats, enabling both Pi and Richard Parker to eat and drink freely and regain strength. But at night the island transforms into a hostile environment, with the fresh water turning acidic. Pi finds a human tooth inside a plant and concludes that the plants are carnivorous, requiring them to leave the island.

The lifeboat eventually reaches the coast of Mexico. Finally back on land, Richard Parker walks into the jungle without even looking back at Pi to “say goodbye”. Pi is taken to a hospital, where insurance agents for the Japanese freighter come to hear his account of the incident. They find his story unbelievable, and ask him to tell them what “really” happened, if only for the credibility of their report. He answers with a less fantastic but detailed account of sharing the lifeboat with his mother, a sailor with a broken leg, and the ship’s cook. In this story, the cook kills the sailor, and then Pi’s mother, to use them as bait and food. Pi then kills the cook in revenge.

In the present, the writer notes parallels between the two stories: the orangutan was Pi’s mother, the zebra was the sailor, the hyena was the cook, and Richard Parker, the tiger, was Pi himself. Pi asks him which story he prefers; he chooses the story with the tiger. Glancing at a copy of the insurance report, the writer notices a closing comment about the remarkable feat of surviving 227 days at sea… especially with a tiger; the agents chose that story as well.

Seeing sooo many positive reviews from friends and even the high rating on IMDB..Yes its nice but then, maybe still never really touch to the point yet.

Very nice and new concept for the story most importantly. And the animation..Its just freaking awesome i would say..Mindblowing CG..Everything is nicely done include the sfx..

But maybe i expecting a more dramatic ending..=) 2 hours..You should give it a try.

Big Bang ALIVE Galaxy Tour 2012 Malaysia [Photos]

Yes! Its Big Bang concert today! A day that all the VIPs have been waiting for soooo sooo sooo long =)

Yes i listened to their songs and like them. But definitely NOT a bigggggg fan would actually spent soooo much money to get the tickets. ts definitely worth to spend some money to enjoy the atmosphere but..Seriously i cant folk out anymore money. Feeel like crying to see my wallet now. =(

But then, it also makes me feel excited when seeing how others are so crazy about it. So i’m gonna post all the photos related to the concert or after they landed in Malaysia. Enjoy.

Stranger, Petronas TVC

Every year, Petronas will release a lot of very very good TVC during chinese new year, hari raya etc.

This year, with no exception.

A very unique TVC this year with the shooting at Uzbekistan and also fantastic cinematography!

Very touching storyline and great acting. Almost perfect.

And the director is a malaysian who is only 27 years old, Quek Shio Chuan.

He did produced a few nice short film. Google him.

2nd bronze for Malaysia

Its the second last day of Olympics..Time flies. Gonna miss it a lot. Well its a bit delayed post coz its for our country diver, Pandelela Rinong who get a bronze medal in Diving 10m platform.

This is also the FIRST medal besides badminton! Yes! we made it at DIVING!

Look! So happy to see Malaysia flag got raised up at aquatic centre.

Pandelala Rinong was also the flag bearer of Malaysia during the opening ceremony.

At the preliminary round, she was ranked 2nd among 26 divers. She was just one rank behind the world champion from China. She got qualified to semi final and she was at 5th position among 18 in semifinal. Again, she made it into FINAL! She was the second one that made it into diving final after Yeoh Ken Nee! Of coz looking at her well performance is semi final and preliminary round, everyone puts a high hope to get a medal from her.

In final, she kind of screw up her first dive that score only 50+ pts. After the first round, she was at second last which is 10th place.

Second dive, she was at 9th place. Until the 4th round, she was at 7th place because she did well in her 3rd dive. Until the last dive, she was at 3rd place and the only one that can push her down is a diver from Australia. The critique moment, the Australian diver was not well performed in the last dive and this made the victory for Pandelela Rinong! And she and the 4th place was just around 1 pts away. I would say luck is with Pandelela as well! Yes anyway, congrats!! =) Proud of you

The Dark Knight Rises

Thanks for Yuberactive and i get 2 free tickets for The Dark Knight Rises movie. my bestie all went back d, so someone actually went to watched with me =)

On the way. Chatting while stucking in jam. wtheck it took us 45 mins to reach. Hate working hour.

Ok lets move to the movie! After hearing so much comments how great Dark knight rises is..I expect even much more already.

Eight years have passed since the events of The Dark Knight. Though organised and violent crime has been almost eradicated due to the powers of the Dent Act, Commissioner Jim Gordon still feels guilty over lying to the public. He prepares a speech explaining the truth but fails to read it at a charity ball at Wayne Manor. Selina Kyle, in the employ of corrupt businessman John Daggett, attends the ball and steals Bruce Wayne’s fingerprints. She flees with Martha Wayne’s pearls and abducts a congressman. Kyle meets with Daggett’s henchman to trade the prints for software capable of expunging her criminal past. However once betrayed, she alerts the police to the congressman’s whereabouts and escapes while Daggett’s men escape through the sewer where Bane has been living. Gordon follows the men but is captured and his speech taken by Bane. Shot in the process, Gordon is saved by Officer John Blake – who he then promotes to detective.

Blake deduces Batman’s identity and urges Bruce Wayne to return as Batman, alerting Bruce to the fact that his company is crumbling. Wayne Enterprises invested in a clean energy project with Miranda Tate, and after learning that the core could be modified to become a nuclear weapon, the project was closed, leading to financial loss. Bane, under orders by Daggett, attacks the stock exchange – bankrupting Bruce Wayne and traps Batman where he barely escapes. Alfred Pennyworth then retires in hopes to persuade Bruce from continuing as Batman. To Daggett’s dismay, Miranda is elected as the new chairman, and then he is killed by Bane. Bruce then finds Bane, with the help of Kyle who then betrays him in a bid to save herself – leaving Batman to fight Bane alone. Bane breaks Batman’s back and imprisons him in his former prison while gaining access to Bruce’s armory. There Bruce learns the origins of Bane and the League of Shadows.

Kyle attempts to flee Gotham but is arrested on kidnapping charges while Bane traps the majority of Gotham’s police underground, sets off bombs throughout Gotham, killing the Mayor in the process, and destroying any means of exiting Gotham by land. Converting Wayne’s project into a nuclear bomb, Bane arms an anonymous citizen with the trigger who will detonate the device should anyone leave Gotham – unbeknownst to the citizens, the bomb will detonate regardless in five months. Bane also frees the prisoners of the Dent Act – reading Gordon’s stolen speech – while members of Gotham’s high society are dragged from their homes and sentenced to death by Jonathan Crane. A small resistance is mounted by Gordon, Blake and other remaining police officers who primarily track the Bomb’s location as it is transported throughout the city in one of three trucks.

Meanwhile, Bruce escapes imprisonment and returns as Batman – saving Gordon from death, freeing the trapped officers and granting Kyle the program Daggett had promised her in return for opening an escape route out of the city. The entire police force, with Batman leading, stage an assault on Bane and his men at City Hall. Batman betters Bane only for Miranda to stab him, revealing her identity is actually Talia al Ghul, the daughter of Ra’s al Ghul and the only other to escape from the prison where her mother had given birth to her where Bane had acted as her protector – his mask a method of dulling pain of injuries sustained in her defense. Gordon prevents Talia (also the trigger bearer) from detonating the bomb by jamming the remote signal. Talia then leaves Batman to Bane, but Kyle comes on the Batpod to save Batman, killing Bane in the process. Batman uses “The Bat”, a specialized aircraft devised by Fox, to force Talia off a road, killing her. Batman, with no options left in the wake of Talia flooding the fusion chamber that would stop the bomb, flies the bomb over Gotham Bay – appearing to sacrifice himself – where it detonates safely.

Following the explosion, Batman is hailed as a hero with a statue erected in his honor while Bruce is declared dead. As his estate is divided, Martha Wayne’s pearls are noted as missing; presumably explained when Alfred witnesses Bruce and Selina together in a café in Florence – fulfilling a wish made earlier in the film that Bruce would one day be able to move on. Bruce also leaves coordinates for the Batcave to Blake – who resigned from the Gotham City Police Department and whose first name is Robin – suggesting the continuation of the Batman.

Ok this movie actually last almost 3 hours long but i don see any draggy storyline. In fact, i love how the story get to the main point just after a while the show starts. Shouln’t post too much regarding the story. I don’t wan to be the spoiler.

I love Bane here. Lol..

3 hours with very well developed story and a bit of twisting as well..Very nice visuals and of course Hans Zimmer did it again. the sound..big thumbs up.

And this not going to be like normal super heroes movies where he fight, win and save people thats it. But..ya its just different. watch it. lol.

A bit touching storyline too and…

ya. it just never gets boring seriously.

One thing i don like is the ending of Bane =) A bit abrupt imo.

But overall its AMAZING!

Whoever thinks that spiderman or avengers are effing amazing. ya..They are amazing(i used to think that), but now. The Dark Knight rises..only what i call  a FREAKING AWESOME movie..

I don’t like a superhero movie which its all just to show how great the hero is but without a really strong story behind..but dark knight rises definitely not.

3 hours? worth every seconds..

The whole production did a very good job..Thumbs up Christopher Nolan.

The Amazing Spider-Man

Back from the Amazing Spiderman just now. Woo~ I love spiderman haha.

A young Peter Parker discovers his father Richard’s study has been broken into. Gathering up hidden documents, Peter’s parents take him to the home of his Aunt May and Uncle Ben, then mysteriously depart. Years later, a teenaged Peter attends Midtown Science High School, where he is bullied by Flash Thompson and has caught the eye of Gwen Stacy. At home, Peter finds his father’s papers and learns he worked with fellow scientist Dr. Curt Connors at Oscorp. Sneaking into Oscorp, Peter enters a lab where a “biocable” is being created from genetically modified spiders, one of which bites him. On the subway ride home, he discovers that he has developed spider-like abilities.

After studying Richard’s papers, Peter visits the one-armed Connors, reveals he is Richard Parker’s son, and gives Connors his father’s “decay rate algorithm”, the missing piece in Connors’ experiments on regenerating limbs based on lizard DNA. Connors is being pressured by his superior, Dr. Ratha, to devise a cure for the dying, unseen head of Oscorp, Norman Osborn. In school, Peter gets into trouble after humiliating Flash in an act of revenge. As a result, his uncle is forced to change work shifts in order to meet with the principal; Uncle Ben tells Peter to pick up May tonight for him. Peter neglects his responsibility, instead helping Dr. Connors regenerate the limb of a laboratory mouse. When Peter returns home he gets into an argument with his uncle and storms out of the house. While searching for Peter, Uncle Ben attempts to stop a thief and is shot. The thief escapes as Peter finds his uncle already dead on the sidewalk.

Afterward, Peter uses his new abilities to hunt criminals matching the killer’s description. After a fall lands him inside an abandoned gym, aluchador-wrestling poster inspires him to create a mask to hide his identity. He also adds a spandex suit, and builds mechanical devices to attach to his wrists to shoot a biocable “web”. Peter accepts a dinner invitation from Gwen, where he meets her father, police captainGeorge Stacy. After dinner, Peter shows Gwen his abilities and they kiss.

After seeing success in the mouse, Ratha demands Connors begin human trials immediately if Osborn is to survive. Connors refuses to rush the drug-testing procedure and put innocent people at risk. Ratha fires Connors and decides to test Connors’ serum at a Veterans Administration hospital under the guise of a flu shot. Later, Connors tries the formula on himself. After passing out, he awakens to find his missing arm has regenerated. Learning Ratha is on his way to the VA hospital, Connors, whose skin is growing scaly and green, goes to intercept him. By the time he gets to the Williamsburg Bridge Connors has become a hybrid of lizard and man, tossing cars, including Ratha’s, over the side of the bridge. Peter, now calling himself Spider-Man, saves each fallen car with his web-lines.

Spider-Man suspects Connors is the Lizard, and unsuccessfully confronts the creature in the sewers. The Lizard learns Spider-Man’s real identity and attacks Peter at school. In response, the police start a manhunt for both Spider-Man and the Lizard. The police corner Spider-Man, where Captain Stacy discovers that he is really Peter. The Lizard plans to make all humans lizard-like by releasing a chemical cloud from Oscorp’s tower. Spider-Man eventually disperses an antidote cloud instead, restoring Connors and earlier victims to normal, but not before the Lizard fatally claws Captain Stacy. The dying Stacy makes Peter promise to keep Gwen safe by staying away from her. Peter initially does so, but later suggests to Gwen that he may see her after all.

In a post-credits scene, Connors, in a prison cell, speaks with a man in the shadows who asks if Peter knows the truth about his father. Connors replies, “No”, and demands Peter be left alone before the man disappears.

 

After hearing from soooo many reviews from others, finally i’ve watched it! =))

I don’t remember watching the previous series before so its kinda new to me. lol

I love the storyline..How action and love story got mixed up together..During the 2 hours plus movie, at least everything caught my attention. I don’t feel there’s any single part that is extra.

Of course, Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker looks so awesome! Love the cinemetography..

Also the sfx and vfx is amazing as well! But there’s one thing that i don really like which is the lizard. I feel that lizard vs spiderman is a bit off. Well..I know its a sequel but yeah. I just feel so. And its a bit “easy” to beat down the lizard. I expect it to be more challenging.

But overall veryyy nice!

Movie Review : Brave

Hoho..Had dinner with shibin sean felicia kelseyz and stephanie. lol.3+3 = 6 musketeers.

After that we went for movie, BRAVE! Finally a movie after soo long..lol.

In Scotland, King Fergus of Clan DunBroch presents his young daughter Merida with a bow for her birthday. While practicing with the bow, Merida briefly encounters a will-o’-the-wispas a giant demon bear named Mor’du attacks the family. Merida escapes along with her mother Queen Elinor while Fergus fights off the bear alongside his men at the cost of his left leg. Years later, Elinor has since given birth to identical triplet boys, and Merida has become a free-spirited and adventurous teenager. One night, her mother informs her she is to be betrothed to one of her father’s allied clans: Dingwall, Macintosh, or MacGuffin. Oblivious to her mother’s attempts to appease her by telling her a legend of a power-hungry prince who broke off from his duty and caused the ruin of a kingdom, Merida is dissatisfied with the arranged marriage.

The clans arrive with their first-born sons to compete in the Highland Games for Merida’s hand, and the princess chooses archery as the main event. During the competition, Lord Dingwall’s son wins by accident. Entering the competition, Merida says that as the first-born of Clan DunBroch she is eligible to compete for her own hand, and later has a falling-out with Elinor. When Merida destroys a tapestry depicting her family and Elinor burns her bow, Merida flees to the forest. While there, the Will O’ The Wisps lead her to the hut of an elderlywitch who insists she is a wood carver. After some bargaining, the witch agrees to give Merida a spell, in the form of a cake, to change her mother.

Merida returns to the castle and gives Elinor the cake, transforming her into a bear. With the help of her brothers, Merida helps Elinor escape from the castle. The pair return to the witch’s cottage, finding the witch gone for the season. Through a potion-controlled automated message, Merida discovers that the spell will be permanent unless undone by the second sunrise. The witch leaves Merida a riddle, mentioning that a pride-torn bond must be repaired. The next morning, Merida and her mother begin to reconcile their relationship while gathering fish and playing in a nearby river. However, Merida observes the spell to be slowly becoming permanent, transforming Elinor into a wild bear. The pair encounters the wisps again and follows them to ancient ruins, learning that Mor’du was once the prince of Elinor’s legend, and received the same spell from the witch. After fleeing an attack from Mor’du, Merida theorizes that the repair of the tapestry will turn her mother human again and prevent her from becoming like Mor’du.

At the castle, the clans are on the verge of war because of Merida’s actions, but the princess quells their fighting and declares that the children should be allowed to get married in their own time. Her suitors second her and the lords agree. Merida then sneaks into the tapestry room with Elinor, who once again loses her humanity for a few minutes. Fergus goes to his bedchambers to find Elinor, but mistakes her to be dead after seeing the room destroyed. Elinor attacks both Merida and Fergus when he steps into their room. On regaining human consciousness, she races out of the castle in desperation. Thinking that Elinor is Mor’du, Fergus detains Merida and follows Elinor. With the help of her brothers, now transformed into cubs from eating the cake, Merida races after her father while fixing the tapestry. As the clan members and Fergus capture Elinor, Merida intervenes; however, Mor’du attacks Merida, Fergus and the clan members. Elinor kills Mor’du by luring him under a falling masonry, setting the spirit of the prince free.

Merida places the tapestry over Elinor, professes her love for her mother and reconciles. Elinor is transformed back along with the triplets, and the family is reunited once again. A few days later, the clans depart for their respective lands and Merida and Elinor ride their horses together, sharing a closer relationship than before.

I would say this is another good animation by Pixar! Looking at their budget! lol. they even recreate their whole animation system just to push their animation to another level!

Come on..effects are *thumbs up* its by PIXAR! so awesome =)

Lovely storyline as well! hehe..and i love the soundtrack!

The Avengers Movie Review

Finally! Even im in Melaka, but i just cant wait to watch! Don wish to wait anymore! hehe.

Plus before this keep hearing all the positive comments about this.

Plot:

Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson), director of the espionage agency S.H.I.E.L.D., arrives at a remote research facility during an evacuation. The Tesseract, an energy source of unknown potential, has activated and opened a portal through space, from which the exiled Norse god Loki (Tom Hiddleston) steps through. Loki takes the Tesseract, and uses his abilities to control the minds of several S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel including agent Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner), and physicist consultant Dr. Erik Selvig (Stellan Skarsgard) in order to aid in his getaway.

In response to the attack, Fury reactivates the Avengers Initiative. Agent Natasha Romanoff(Scarlett Johannson) is sent to India to recruit Dr. Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), while Agent Philip Coulson (Clark Gregg), approaches Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and requests that he reviews Dr. Selvig’s research. Fury himself approaches Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) with an assignment to retrieve the Tesseract from Loki. During his exile, Loki encountered the Chitauri, an alien race seeking to conquer the galaxy with the Tesseract. In exchange for the Tesseract, the Chitauri agree to help Loki subjugate Earth.

Iron Man, Captain America, and Romanoff travel to Germany to apprehend Loki, who is stealingiridium needed to stabilize the Tesseract’s power and demanding that the civilians kneel before him. After a battle with Captain America, Loki surrenders and is escorted back to a S.H.I.E.L.D. plane. However, Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Loki’s adoptive brother and the Norse god of thunder, arrives and attempts to free Loki to reason with him. Iron Man and Captain America confront Thor, and Loki is eventually returned to the Helicarrier, a high-tech, flying aircraft carrier, and placed in a cell designed to hold The Hulk.

The Avengers are divided, both over how to approach Loki and the revelation that S.H.I.E.L.D. plan to harness the Tesseract’s power to develop weapons. Fury admits that the events in New Mexico a year before made S.H.I.E.L.D. aware of other races on other worlds, some of which may see Earth as an easy target. The decision was made to produce weapons with the Tesseract as a means of deterrence. As the group argues, Clint Barton and Loki’s possessed agents attack the Helicarrier, disabling its engines in flight. As Stark and Rogers attempt to restart the damaged engines, Dr. Banner transforms into the Hulk, despite Romanoff’s best efforts to calm him down, and runs amok inside the ship, fighting Thor are both ejected from the ship. During a fight with Barton, Romanoff discovers that a blow to the head — powerful enough to knock Barton unconscious — is enough to break Loki’s mind control. The Helicarrier lands on the surface of the ocean, but Loki escapes and traps Thor in his cell. In addition to this, when Coulson tries to attack Loki, (with a gun that he doesn’t even know what it does) he stabbed Coulson in the back, killing him.

Fury uses Coulson’s death to motivate the Avengers into working as a team. Stark and Rogers realize that simply defeating them will not be enough for Loki; he needs to overpower them in a very public way so as to validate himself as ruler of Earth. Using a device built by Dr. Selvig, Loki opens a portal to the Chitauri fleet over Manhattan, summoning a Chitauri invasion.

The Avengers rally in defense of New York, but quickly come to the conclusion that they will be overwhelmed as wave after wave of Chitauri descend upon Earth. With help from Hawkeye, Captain America and Thor evacuate civilians, while Dr. Banner transforms into the Hulk again and goes after Loki, beating him into submission. Black Widow makes her way to the portal, where Dr. Selvig, freed of Loki’s control, reveals that Loki’s staff can be used to close the portal.

Meanwhile, Fury’s superiors attempt to end the invasion by launching a nuclear missile at Manhattan. Iron Man intercepts the missile and takes it through the portal toward the Chitauri fleet before running out of power and plummeting back to Earth, but the Hulk catches him as he falls. Thor escorts Loki and the Tesseract back to Asgard, while Fury notes that the Avengers will go their separate ways until such time as a new world-threatening menace emerges.

During a post-credits scene, the Chitauri leader is grovelling to his master, stating that Earth is heavily guarded and attacking Earth “would be to court death”. A shadowy figure turns to the camera and smiles.

at first i feel that the story a bit draggy plus its less action packed as the last movie i’ve watched is battleship. so compared to this one, feel its a bit too light. More to dialouge.

BUT!

But when it goes to climax, wow!

Seeing all the Marvel superheroes standing side by side, OMGG!!!

Ironman! Thor! Hulk! Hawkeye! Captain America! ahh……..

Plus its quite touching though, can see the unity when few characters with different personalities and abilities work together!

If you are Marvel fans, there’s no way you could miss it to watch in cinema! Definitely worth to the price!

Its not that heavy scifi actually..And in between of the storyline are funny. More to comedy+action genre for me hahhaa..especially Ironman. lol..So overall i feel very comfortable to watch..nor too boring nor too heavy.

Storyline great. visual effects thumbs up! Very very nice CG!

As for sfx, i feel its slightly less. Can be more impactful!

and the 2.5 hours movie also worth for your time!
