The Ronin embark on a journey with challenges that would defeat most warriors.

Been getting quite a lot of positive reviews for this. Quite a big fan of Samurai movies also, so yeah.

Storyline wise, I think its pretty there. But somehow the ending is not really impactful enough. I shall not elaborate too much to prevent spoiler. But ya i just feel the ending could be even much better, currently its too “soft” for me lol.

For their CG, i love it! Love the environment, creatures etc. Even though the beast at the beginning might look a bit fake for me.

No comment on casts. Everyone did a pretty good job too! Especially Keanu Reeves, damn this guy never fail to disappoint me. On a side note, Mika looks pretty :p lol

If you love Samurai, this worth for your time definitely.

Movie Review : Insidious 2

In 1986, a medium named Carl calls upon his friend Elise to help discover what is haunting Lorraine Lambert’s son, Josh. After hypnotizing Josh, Elise attempts to find the location of Josh’s “friend” (an old woman who appears in photographs of Josh) through playing Hot or Cold. After warnings from Josh, Elise makes her way to his bedroom closet and is scratched along the arm. As a result, Lorraine, Carl, and Elise agree that making Josh forget his astral projection abilities is the best thing to do.

Twenty-five years later, Josh’s wife Renai is under questioning by a police detective about the death of Elise. Unsettled by the theory that her husband is a killer, Renai rejoins with her family as they relocate to Lorraine’s house. As everyone goes to bed, Renai begins witnessing strange occurrences throughout the house. Josh, who is suspected by Renai to be inhabited by the old woman, tells her not to worry and that everything will be okay.

The next day, Renai sees a woman wearing a white dress sitting in the living room. Following the cries of her baby throughout the house, Renai comes face-to-face with the woman in white and is knocked unconscious. During this time, Lorraine visits Elise’s colleagues Specks and Tucker to seek an explanation behind the strange events. In doing so, they call upon Carl, who listens to Lorraine’s story and attempts to contact Elise on the other side using word-dice. Through the dice, they are told to find answers at the “Our Lady of Angels” hospital (the former workplace of Lorraine). Led through the hospital to the ICU, Lorraine recounts a story of a patient named Parker Crane, who committed suicide by jumping off the roof many years ago. The four decide that Elise is leading them to this man’s house. After breaking into Parker’s home, they find a black gown and veil as well as newspaper clippings about a man referred to as “The Dark Bride” who kidnapped and murdered several people while dressed as a woman. It is then revealed to them that it was not Elise speaking through the dice, but actually Parker’s mother.

After Renai recovers with Josh at her side, Lorraine arrives home and insists that she, Renai, and the kids get away from Josh. In the car, she explains the origin of “The Dark Bride” and the theory that the real Josh is trapped in the Further. At this same moment, Carl arrives at the house to drug the possessed Josh while Specks and Tucker monitor from their van parked outside. The plan fails, however, and Josh incapacitates Carl, Specks and Tucker. After receiving a message saying everything is okay, Lorraine and Renai return to the house only to be ambushed by Josh. Locking Lorraine in the closet, Josh attempts to choke Renai but is knocked over the head with a bat by Dalton, who has returned home with Foster. Renai and the children then escape to the basement where they barricade themselves in the laundry room. Lying down in a corner with a tin can telephone, Dalton falls asleep and returns to the Further to rescue his father. Simultaneously, Josh begins making his way into the room by hammering through the drywall.

Meanwhile, in the Further, the real Josh stumbles upon Carl and the two look for Elise, finding her at the Lambert’s previous home. The three then proceed to Parker’s house where they witness his mother, the woman in white, abusing him as a child in attempt to convince him that he’s a girl. The mother notices the group observing and locks Carl and Elise out of the room. When Josh turns around, the room is dark and filled with standing bodies covered by sheets. Upon finding Parker’s mother amongst the bodies, the two engage in a fight. Just as the mother is about to choke Josh to death, Elise enters the room with the help of young Parker and saves Josh by hitting the mother from behind with a rocking horse. After the three escape the house, they are met up by Dalton who assists Carl and Josh in returning to real time by following the string from the tin can telephone.

Josh, who collapsed in real time after Parker’s mother was hit by the rocking horse, and Dalton wake up as themselves, a feeling of relief encompasses the room. Carl then hypnotizes Dalton and Josh to forget their astral projection abilities and everything that happened with it. The screen fades to white and Specks and Tucker are shown knocking on the door to another home. As they speak with the parents of the house about their daughter Allison, Elise walks in to speak to a comatose Allison. A creaking noise and shadow rises behind the girl just as Elise shockingly exclaims, “Oh my God”.

FINALLY! Been anticipated for this for so long after The Conjuring and get to watch with my buddies for the MIDNIGHT SHOW! AWESOME!

Again, its directed by James Wan, famous for all his directed horror movie like SAW, The Conjuring etc.

For Insidious 2, i find some quite similar parts with Conjuring. Like the house environment, their cinematography etc. But the story is kinda different though. The movie is around 1 hour 40 mins. Not too short or too long.

I would say everything is just fine. Just that compared to The Conjuring, I still find The Conjuring is slightly better with some more intense scenes. But again, if you are a fan of horror movie/ James Wan or you have watched part 1, it worth for your time for part 2 as well because Part 2 is better than part 1 IMO.

Movie Review : Gravity

Bio-medical engineer Dr. Ryan Stone is a Mission Specialist on her first space shuttle mission, STS-157, accompanied by veteran astronaut Matt Kowalski, who is commanding his final expedition. During the final spacewalk to service the Hubble Space Telescope,Mission Control in Houston warns the team that debris from a Russian missile strike on a defunct satellite has caused a chain reaction of destruction and that they must abort the mission. Shortly afterward, communications from Mission Control are lost, though Stone and Kowalski continue to transmit in hopes that the ground crew can hear them.

High-speed debris kills engineer Shariff and damages the space shuttle Explorer, sending Stone far away from it. Kowalski, who is wearing a thruster pack, navigates to Stone and retrieves her. Tethered together, the two make their way back to Explorer, where they discover it has been damaged far beyond usability, and the rest of the crew are dead. They decide to use the thruster pack to make their way to the International Space Station (ISS), which is in orbit only about 100 km (60 mi) away. Kowalski estimates they have 90 minutes before the debris field completes an orbit and threatens them again.

During the route to the ISS, the two discuss Stone’s life back home and the death of her young daughter in a schoolyard accident. As they approach the slightly damaged ISS, they see that its crew has evacuated in one of the Soyuz modules and that the other’s parachute has been accidentally deployed, making it useless for return to Earth. But Kowalski says that the Soyuz can still be used to travel to the nearbyChinese space stationTiangong to retrieve another module that can take them to Earth. Out of air and maneuvering power, the two try to grab onto the ISS as they fly by. At the last moment, Stone’s leg becomes entangled in the Soyuz’s parachute cords, but Kowalski realizes that his momentum will carry them both away; over Stone’s protests, he detaches himself from the tether so that Stone might survive, and the tension in the cords pulls her back towards the ISS. As Kowalski floats away, he radios additional instructions and encouragement to Stone.

Stone enters the ISS via an airlock but must hastily make her way to the Soyuz to escape a fire. Stone realizes the Soyuz’s parachute cables are still tangled with the ISS. She spacewalks outside to release the cables, barely succeeding just as the debris field completes its orbit and destroys the station. Stone aligns the Soyuz with Tiangong, but discovers the craft’s thrusters have no fuel. Stone resigns herself to being stranded and begins decompression of the cabin to commit suicide by painless hypoxia. As she begins to lose consciousness, Stone has a hallucination in which Kowalski appears outside, enters the capsule, and tells her to use the Soyuz’s landing rockets. Newly motivated to live, Stone restores the flow of oxygen and uses the rockets to navigate towards Tiangong.

Unable to dock the Soyuz with the station, Stone ejects herself via explosive decompression and uses a fire extinguisher as a makeshift thruster to travel to Tiangong. She enters the Shenzhou capsule just as Tiangong starts to break up on the upper edge of the atmosphere, having been knocked from orbit by debris. As the capsule descends to Earth, Stone hears Mission Control over the radio tracking the capsule. The capsule lands in a lake, forcing Stone to shed her spacesuit underwater in order to swim to shore. She takes her first shaky steps on land, in the full gravity of Earth.

Get myself to watch Gravity just now! I rarely watch movies in 3D but i know IT IS A MUST to watch Gravity in 3D.

From the trailer, it might seems bored. But in fact if you are someone that loves outer space a lot like me, you MUST watch this! Story wise is really really simple..Basically its just about two astronauts struggling at the outer space and trying to survive from all the obstacles they met. And there’re only two casts (one dead at the half of the movie).

But what i think that is highlighted in this movie is the effect they had. Watch this in 3D and you will feel you actually being “blown” away to the outer space. Everything is so detailed and realistic. The visual experience is just so different from other 3D movies that you have watched. I also love the overall arrangement of their sfx. Nicely done.

Again, don’t come for story or the casts. Come for the experience that you are going to have.

Movie Review : Prisoners

On November 22, 2012, Keller Dover (Hugh Jackman), a deeply religious man who runs a failing carpentry business, attends a Thanksgiving dinner with his family at the house of neighbor and family friends the Birches. The families’ six year old daughters, Anna Dover and Joy Birch, go for a walk outside with their older siblings, Ralph Dover and Eliza Birch. The children have to be forcefully pulled away from a parked RV by their siblings when they start climbing on it. After dinner, the younger daughters leave to go back to Anna’s house to get her safety whistle she is supposed to carry at all times, but they never come back. After a police hunt, the RV is found parked outside a gas station next to a wooded area. When Detective Loki (Jake Gyllenhaal), who heads the case, goes to confront the RV’s driver, Alex Jones (Paul Dano), Alex panics, tries to speed away, and crashes into the trees.

Alex is taken in for questioning, but it is found that he has the IQ of a 10-year-old and rarely speaks. No forensic evidence is found in the RV and Alex’s low intelligence means he couldn’t have covered up such evidence. Also, polygraph tests of him prove inconclusive due to his low IQ, and he repeatedly denies ever having seen the children. Detective Loki goes to see Alex’s aunt, Holly Jones (Melissa Leo), who raised him with his uncle after his parents died when he was six. Alex’s uncle left the home a couple years ago after a domestic dispute with his aunt. Alex spends most nights sleeping in the RV and does not have many things. As the police are unable to find evidence against Alex, he is released in two days. Keller attacks him in a parking lot where he says Alex tells him, “They only cried when I left them.” Though no one is close enough to hear this to corroborate, Keller takes this as proof that Alex took the girls.

That night, Keller abducts Alex at gunpoint while walking his dog, and imprisons him in an abandoned, run-down apartment building that his father owned. With the reluctant help of Joy’s father, Franklin Birch (Terrence Howard), Keller repeatedly beats Alex for days for information. Overcome with guilt, Franklin tells his wife Nancy (Viola Davis) what they have done and brings her to see Alex. While talking to him, she unties Alex and he attempts to escape. This forces Keller to build a wall around a bath tub, where he locks Alex. It is devoid of light except for a small PVC tube talk-hole, and Keller is able to torture Alex with both scalding and freezing water. At this point, the Birches decide they cannot participate any longer, but they do not stop Keller. Detective Loki begins tailing Keller after hearing that Alex went missing, and eventually finds the apartment complex, though he does not discover Alex.

Over the days Alex is being tortured, Detective Loki trails other leads. While investigating sex offenders in the area, he discovers that Father Patrick Dunn has a long-dead body in his basement. Father Dunn claims that he did not know who the man was, but that in a confession the man bragged about killing sixteen children and also admitted to having a family dispute. The reverend confesses that he convinced the man to come to his house, where he killed him to “save the children”, and is arrested for the crime. During a candlelight vigil for the missing girls, Detective Loki notices a man acting suspicious, but loses him in a chase. Subsequent scenes show the man breaking into the Dover and Birch homes, though it is not revealed what he did there. Keller’s wife hears the window open when the man breaks in, but never sees him, and believes Anna had come back. Detective Loki writes down her statement of someone coming in through the window. After a sketch of the man appears on the news, a department store clerk recognizes him and states that he comes in from time to time to examine children’s mannequins and buy children’s clothing. The man is revealed to be Bob Taylor when the clerk gives Loki the man’s license plate to track him down. Loki confronts Taylor at his home and finds that the walls are covered in drawings of intricate mazes. In a back room, locked crates filled with maze books, venomous snakes, and bloody children’s clothing are discovered. Both the Dovers and Birches identify clothing belonging to their children from the crates, and Taylor confesses to killing them. Keller begins to regret his actions towards Alex, but still believes Alex may know where the bodies are. Alex mentions a clue about finding them in a maze. Keller goes to the Jones home to “apologize” to Holly for attacking Alex at the police station, but in reality, he is there to judge her reaction after he mentions he’s having dreams of Anna in a maze.

Believing there’s a small chance the children might still be alive, Loki beats Taylor during questioning, but Taylor manages to grab one of the officers’ gun from his belt and commits suicide. The blood on the children’s clothes is later found to be pig’s blood, and after looking back at Keller’s wife’s statement about the window, Loki realizes that Taylor had stolen clothing from the girls’ rooms. Taylor is revealed to be a fake killer copying a book titled “Finding the Invisible Man” which prominently features mazes, especially a circular maze (seen in the “O” in the “Prisoners” logo) which Taylor was drawing while in custody. Days later, Joy Birch is found drugged and is hospitalized, but Anna is still missing. In her drugged state, Joy rambles that Keller was there, giving the audience the impression that Keller is somehow in on it. Keller rushes off as Loki chases him. Loki loses him, but heads toward the apartment complex and discovers the imprisoned Alex.

Keller goes to Holly’s, realizing that is where Joy had heard him. Holly holds him at gunpoint and forces him to consume the same sedative used to drug Anna and Joy. She reveals that she and her husband had been religious people, like Keller, until their son died of cancer at a young age. They decided to spite God by making children disappear without a trace to turn their parents into demons, as evidenced by what Keller had become. Alex was the first child they abducted and they raised him as their own son. Holly and her husband continued to kill until he ran from home one day. From that point on, she basically stopped as she needed his assistance. However, when Alex gave Anna and Joy a ride for their amusement, she found her chance to do so again, and that made Keller realize that Alex never harmed the girls. Holly dumps Keller (now handcuffed) in a pit hidden under a functional car made to appear broken. This pit is where she had made all the kidnapped children “disappear”. However, she mentions having moved Anna and Joy into the house when the police started looking around, which is what allowed Joy to eventually escape. In the pit, Keller finds his daughter’s whistle, and begins to attempt to repent for the demon he had become.

Loki goes to Holly’s house to tell her about Alex being found. He enters when she does not respond, and realizes that her husband was the dead man in Father Dunn’s basement when he sees a picture of him wearing the same necklace as the dead man. He confronts Holly as she injects Anna with cyanide. The two shoot each other; Loki is wounded, but Holly is killed. He rushes Anna to the hospital and she is saved. Days later, it is revealed that Keller is still missing, and is assumed to be on the run to avoid prison time for his crimes to Alex. Loki promises his wife he’ll find him. When searching through the newspaper, it is revealed that Alex is actually the boy who was kidnapped from the mother Loki visited earlier in the film. Loki is later shown with a team excavating Holly’s yard for remains, but the cold weather dramatically slows the search. After the team leaves, Loki is left alone, seemingly pondering Keller’s whereabouts. He hears a faint whistle, but believes it to be his imagination. However, the whistle keeps blowing and Loki turns around to investigate.

Prisoners, basically i didnt watch any trailer, not knowing any clue  whats the story all about. I thoughts its a crime film like prison break, escaping from prison. But i was wrong. Just wrong. There’s nothing to do with prisons/ prisoners.

Lets talk about the story. For me its a very good concept based story and requires you to think a little bit. And also there’s also some twist at the story. But the whole movie is 2.5 hours long. YES, 2.5 hours! It’s so freaking long. And i guess this movie actually going to make a lot of audiences freeze in the cinema. Uhh, the story isnt complicated, but they did a very draggy flow and no offense, i think due to the drag, it makes the whole story pretty flat, without any climax. If you asked when is the climax, i can’t give you an exact answer. Worse is, this movie doesn’t has much exciting sound effect to hype audience up..Since this is a “thriller” film, people are expecting a more exciting and nervous atmosphere. But i would say it fails to do so for a “thriller”, as it doesnt thrill people at all in term of actions and sound effect, well, thats for me.

But definitely Hugh Jackman did a really good job. I totally feel his pain for being a father that lost his kid. And seeing how his character slowly turning into “demon” because of his daughter. Really good.. I would think he saves the movie a lot! Basically casts are quite good. Just one thing, i think the “grandmother” aka Alex’s auntie, can be even scarier or creepy. When Keller was at her house, she finally showed her evil side by pointing a gun to Keller from back. By right, it should be something shocking, making everyone goes “OH NO, SHE’S AT THE BACK!!!” But again, never get to make everyone thrilled.

Well, but i think this is still a good movie, aside being a little toooo draggy. It will be cool if some unnecessary part can be removed to make it into a 100 minutes movie (originally 153 minutes). Plus if you are a Hugh Jackman fan, show your support! haha.

Movie Review : Elysium

In 2154, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a luxurious space stationcalled Elysium, and the poor, who live on an overpopulated, devastated Earth. While residents on Earth are policed by ruthless androids, Elysian citizens live in comfort and safety, surrounded by robotic servants and regularly use man-sized medical devices in their homes that keep them free from disease (so called Med-Pods).

Max Da Costa (Matt Damon), a former car thief and parolee, lives in the ruins of Los Angeles and works on the assembly line in one of the robotics factories of Armadyne Corp., the company that provides the space habitat, robots, and most of Elysium’s weapons. Max grew up as an orphan and has spent much of his life in prison. After an altercation with a robot officer results in a broken arm, he reconnects with a childhood friend, Frey (Alice Braga), who works as a nurse in the rundown County Hospital. Frey’s daughter Matilda is dying ofleukemia.

When a caravan of illegal immigrants from Earth attempts to reach the space station, ElysianSecretary of Defense Jessica Delacourt (Jodie Foster) activates vicious mercenary Kruger (Sharlto Copley), who works on Earth as a sleeper agent, and orders him to shoot down the shuttles in a covert mission. Disapproving of her methods, Elysian President Patel (Faran Tahir) reprimands her, and Kruger is fired. Delacourt, vowing to protect Elysium and her own power, convinces Armadyne’s billionaire CEO John Carlyle (William Fichtner) to write a program that can override Elysium’s central computer and make her President. In return, she offers to guarantee renewal of Armadyne’s defense contracts for the next two hundred years. Carlyle agrees to the coup, and after creating the program in his office on Earth, he encrypts it and uploads it to his brain for safekeeping until his return to Elysium.

After an accident at the plant exposes Max to a lethal dose of radiation, Carlyle has Max fired, and Max is sent home with a bottle of painkillers, having only five days to live. Knowing his only chance for survival is a Med-Pod, Max seeks help from notorious smuggler and hacker Spider (Wagner Moura), who organizes the illegal caravans to Elysium. Spider agrees to get Max to Elysium, if in exchange, Max helps him steal valuable financial information from an Elysium citizen. Max agrees, after stipulating that Carlyle is to be the mark. Spider arranges for Max to receive weapons and several medical implants, including a fake Elysium ID needed to use the Med-Pods, a primitive powered exoskeleton that increases his strength to rival the android sentinels, and a cerebral data uplink which will allow Max to transfer information from Carlyle’s mind to his own. With help from a team including his friend Julio (Diego Luna), Max intercepts Carlyle’s spaceship, disables his bodyguards and steals his data (including the program), uploading it to his own brain. The team, however, finds the data scrambled by Carlyle’s security measures and cannot transmit it to Spider.

Delacourt secretly deploys Kruger and his men to rescue Carlyle and recover the program. In the ensuing firefight, Carlyle is mortally wounded, Spider’s men are gunned down and Julio sacrifices himself fighting Kruger so Max can escape. Max is stabbed before getting away, and seeks Frey for help treating his wound. She asks him to help smuggle Matilda into Elysium so she can be cured of her leukemia, but he refuses, believing it to be a suicide mission. Meanwhile, Delacourt locks down Los Angeles airspace and sends Kruger’s team on a manhunt demanding Max be captured with his brain undamaged, as it now holds the only viable copy of the program. Max returns to Spider to extract the information from his head, and they discover Carlyle’s program. They realize that during the reboot it performs, they could change any data they wanted, including making all of Earth’s residents legal citizens of Elysium. However, the lockdown prevents Spider from launching a ship for Max until his men can crack the jamming signal, by which time Max will be dead.

Max instead bargains with Kruger to be taken to Elysium in exchange for the program (threatening suicide by a live grenade next to his head). Kruger, who unbeknownst to Max has captured Frey and Matilda as hostages, agrees. With the lockdown lifted so Kruger’s ship can leave Earth, Spider hastily gathers a team and also heads for Elysium. As Kruger’s ship is approaching the station, his men attempt to disarm Max of the grenade, and it ultimately detonates, severely mutilating Kruger’s face and disabling the shuttle which crash-lands into Elysium. Delacourt seizes the opportunity to declare a state of emergency and relieves President Patel of his duties.

Max, Frey and Matilda are captured from the wreckage and handed over to Delacourt. Carlyle’s security measures for the program are discovered, and it becomes clear that extracting the program from Max’ mind will kill him. Delacourt is unfazed by this and orders her men to proceed. Meanwhile, Kruger’s men put their badly-disfigured boss in a Med-Pod in the armory nearby, and his face is reconstructed. The team is chastised by Delacourt for letting the situation get out of hand, but the mentally-unhinged Kruger now has his own plan; he wants the program for himself, to become President and make Elysium his private playground. He stabs Delacourt in the neck and leaves her with Frey and a comatose Matilda. Despite Frey’s best efforts, Delacourt refuses her help and dies. Max escapes from the data extraction team, and rescues Frey and Matilda, sending them to the surface of Elysium to find a Med-Pod.

Realizing that the Med-Pod will not work on the now-comatose Matilda as she is not a citizen of Elysium, and also knowing that between his radiation sickness and the program in his brain, he is a dead man walking, Max resolves to use Carlyle’s program to make everyone a citizen. He meets with Spider and his men, who landed safely on Elysium during the chaos, and takes the last of his painkillers in an overdose for an edge against Kruger’s team. Kruger meanwhile bolts on a more advanced, military grade exoskeleton and rampages through Elysium’s central command looking for Max, while his men assassinate most of Elysium’s leaders. As Max and Spider reach the main control hub, they are ambushed by Kruger, who fights to disable Max’s exoskeleton and render him powerless. Max finally turns the tables, disconnecting Kruger’s exoskeleton. Desperately, Kruger attempts to kill Max in a murder–suicide using a grenade, but Max breaks free and throws Kruger over a ledge. The grenade detonates, killing Kruger.

Spider and Max lock themselves in Elysium’s main datacenter and prepare the reboot as Patel leads a group to detain them. Max radios Frey to say goodbye, reminding her of a promise he made when they were children, that he would get them up to Elysium someday. After Spider configures the data changes, Max activates the program, killing himself. The computer core is rebooted with Spider’s modifications, registering every Earth resident as a citizen of Elysium. Matilda is now recognized and cured by the Med-Pod Frey was able to find, and Patel, upon breaking into the core, finds himself powerless to stop Spider, as the android sentinels now recognize him as a citizen and refuse to arrest him. As a massive number of new citizens on Earth are now recognized by Elysium’s main computer as being in need of medical treatment, fleets of emergency medical spacecraft equipped with Med-Pods and medical droids are dispatched to Earth and begin their work.

The next sci-fi movie after Pacific Rim. Ok, while watching i keep having the OMG expression. I simply love Elysium planet. Wow, the robot, their technology, environment etc. just wow, so futuristic. So many futuristic environments in the past few sci-fi movies, i love this the most.

I’m loving the cast as well, the antagonist and protagonist..

Beautiful vfx too! I totally love how they create the Earth environment. Brings up two major difference between Earth and Elysium..And i’m liking how daring and crazy their technology can go in Elysium.

Story wise i think its kinda new too..Reflecting on the reality in the world now between the rich and poor. And i kinda like the overall flow of the story include the ending. *ok no spoiler lol*

Overall i think its really good!

The Conjuring Movie Review

In 1971, Carolyn and Roger Perron move into a dilapidated, old farmhouse in Harrisville, Rhode Island with their five daughters. During the first day, the family moves in smoothly, though the dog refuses to come into the house and one of the daughters finds a boarded up entrance to a cellar.

The next morning, Carolyn wakes up with a mysterious bruise and the dog is found dead. Over the next several days, various paranormal activities occur. The activity culminates one night while Roger is away in Florida, as Carolyn is locked in the cellar while a spirit that looks like an elderly woman attacks one of her daughters.

Carolyn contacts noted paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren for help. The Warrens conduct an initial investigation and conclude that the house may require anexorcism, though this cannot be done without further evidence and authorization from the Catholic Church.

While researching the house’s history, Ed and Lorraine discover that the house once belonged to an accused witch, Bathsheba, who tried to sacrifice her children to the devil and killed herself after cursing all who would take her land. They also find reports of numerous murders and suicides in houses that have since been built upon the property.

Ed and Lorraine return to the house in an attempt to gather evidence to receive authorization for an exorcism. That night, one of the daughters sleepwalks into her sister’s room and reveals a secret passage behind a wardrobe. Lorraine enters the passage and falls through the floorboards into the cellar, where she sees the spirits of people whom Bathsheba has possessed. All are mothers whom Bathsheba used to kill their children.

Lorraine and Ed take their evidence to the Church to organize an exorcism while the Perron family takes refuge at a hotel. A possessed Carolyn takes two of her daughters, Christine and April, and drives back to the house. Ed and Lorraine rush to the house where they find Carolyn trying to stab Christine. After subduing Carolyn, Ed decides to perform the exorcism himself, though Carolyn escapes and again attempts to kill her other daughter, April. Lorraine is able to stop the possessed Carolyn from killing her daughter by reminding her of a special memory she shared with her family, allowing Ed to complete the exorcism, saving Carolyn and her daughter.

Finally after sooo many reviews for this movie, I HAVE WATCHED IT! haha..Plus the super high rating at IMDB (its hard to get a high rating in IMDB lol.) and the top it box office already hit more than 100million!

Ok seriously i like how the overall movie manage to tie the audiences mind and heart throughout the movie..Everyone is like being struggled to get frightened anytime. Even a door open sound can make ppl scream lol.

Story is normal, kinda similar to all the recent horror movies. But i love how its still able to make people hook on it. =)

Also love some of the impacts created to scare the shit outta us lol..But for me, the horror level can be exegerrate even more! Very nice mood created too for some scenes.

James Wan, the director totally nail it well! Good job!

R.I.P.D Movie Review

Boston Police Department Detectives Nick Walker (Ryan Reynolds) and Bobby Hayes (Kevin Bacon) steal a chest full of gold found during a drug bust, and Nick buries his share of the gold in his backyard, intending to use it to create a better life for himself and his wife, Julia (Stephanie Szostak). However, he regrets his decision and informs Hayes he intends to return the gold. Later, during a raid on a warehouse, Nick and Hayes get into a shootout with criminals, and Hayes kills Nick to prevent him from returning the gold, framing one of the criminals for the murder.

Nick awakens in the office of Mildred Proctor (Mary-Louise Parker), director of the Rest In Peace Department (R.I.P.D.), an agency that recruits deceased police officers to patrol the afterlife and capture “Deados”, spirits that refuse to cross over and return to Earth as monstrous ghosts. Nick agrees to join the R.I.P.D. after Proctor promises to help him reunite with Julia and meets his new partner, Roy Pulsipher (Jeff Bridges), an ex-U.S. Marshal who lived in the 1800’s.

Nick and Roy return to Earth to attend Nick’s funeral, where Nick learns R.I.P.D. officers are assigned avatars, which is how humans perceive them. Nick’s is an elderly Chinese man, Jerry Chen (J. Hong) and Roy’s is an attractive Russian woman, Opal Pavlenko (Marisa Miller ). After failing to communicate with Julia, Nick accompanies Roy to the apartment of a suspect, Stanley Nawlicki (Robert Knepper), who tries to escape and is killed by the duo. Pieces of gold identical to the ones Nick stole are found in Nawlicki’s possessions and sent to Eternal Affairs for analysis.

Nick and Roy then meet with Elliot (Mike O’Malley), a dealer set to make an exchange with someone, revealed to be Hayes. Nick and Roy follow him to Nick’s house, where Hayes retrieves Nick’s share of the gold, leading Julia to believe Nick was corrupt. From there, the duo tails Hayes to an abandoned warehouse where he gives the gold to a Deado, Pulaski (Devin Ratray), who escapes due to Nick and Roy’s intervention. Proctor, infuriated, takes them off the case, but they decide to continue the investigation on their own after learning the pieces of golds are components of the Staff of Jericho, a mystic device that could reverse the tunnel that transports the dead into the afterlife, returning them to Boston.

Nick and Roy visit Hayes, who quickly finds out who they are and reveals himself to be a Deado. He is arrested and brought to RIPD’s headquarters, where he and other Deados manage to escape after stealing the components of the Staff of Jericho and return to Earth. While the Deados assemble the Staff of Jericho, Hayes kidnaps Julia to use her as a human sacrifice to open the portal. Nick and Roy arrive and after killing the Deados, including Pulaski, Nick goes to save Julia while Roy destroys the Staff of Jericho and saves the city. Although Nick manages to kill Hayes, Julia succumbs to her wounds and dies in his arms before Proctor arrives and informs Nick that he has earned redemption and Julia has been awarded a second chance.

Julia is revived in the hospital and begins recovery, and Proctor reinstates Nick and Roy into the agency, in addition to providing Nick with a new avatar, which is soon revealed to be a 10-year-old girl scout (Piper Mackenzie Harris), much to Nick’s disappointment. Nick and Roy then get into Nick’s car and drive away.

Well I would say this is just a normal movie. Nothing really fancy you..A normal storyline with a not-so-exciting climax. =)

In some part of the movie, it involves some vfx part that tells the city destruction. But I can even spot some mistakes in the vfx and also it doesnt look that realistic. Afterall this movie’s selling point is not the vfx=)

What i like is just some parts of the laughter that u can get in the cinema. JUST SOME. lol

Nothing much to comment seriously.

Movie Review : Pacific Rim

In the near future, humanity is under assault by the Kaijus: colossal alien beasts who rise from an interdimensional portal on the Pacific floor to devastate human cities. To combat them, humanity builds the Jaegers: equally colossal humanoid war machines, each manned by two pilots whose brains are linked to share the overwhelming mental load of piloting the sophisticated machines. Though the Jaegers are effective, the Kaiju attacks grow more frequent and powerful. Humanity’s governments discontinue the Jaeger project and resort to building massive coastal walls to protect humanity from the Kaijus. The four remaining Jaegers are redeployed to Hong Kong to defend the unfortified coastline until the wall is completed. Stacker Pentecost (Elba), commander of the Jaeger forces, devises a plan to end the war by using a nuclear warhead to destroy the portal.

Pentecost approaches retired pilot Raleigh Becket (Hunnam) and convinces him to return and pilot Gipsy Danger, the Jaeger he and his brother Yancy once piloted. During a mission, Yancy was killed by a Kaiju while connected to his brother, traumatizing Raleigh. Arriving at Hong Kong, Raleigh is paired with potential co-pilots to find one with a strong connection, as the stronger the connection, the better their performance in battle. Sensing a strong connection, Raleigh demands to be partnered with Mako Mori (Kikuchi). Pentecost opposes, as Mako is his adoptive daughter, but he eventually relents. The duo’s initial test run nearly ends in disaster when Mako gets caught up in a childhood memory of a Kaiju attack; she inadvertently activates and nearly discharges Gipsy Danger’s weapons while in the hangar. Shortly thereafter, the remaining Jaegers are tasked with fending off a double Kaiju attack in Hong Kong. The defense goes badly, with the Kaijus destroying two Jaegers. Pentecost sends Raleigh and Mako to mount a last stand with Gipsy Danger.

Meanwhile, Newton Geiszler (Day)—a scientist studying the Kaijus—assembles a machine allowing him to establish a mental link with a Kaiju brain fragment. The experience nearly kills him, but he discovers the Kaijus are not wild beasts, but engineered weapons fighting at the behest of a race of alien conquerors. With Pentecost’s approval, he seeks out Hannibal Chau (Perlman), a major figure in the trafficking of Kaiju parts, in an attempt to procure an intact Kaiju brain to repeat the experiment. Chau deduces that the Kaijus are searching Hong Kong for Geiszler, whose actions have attracted their attention. After Gipsy Danger kills both Kaijus, Chau and his team move in to harvest parts. Geiszler realizes one of the Kaijus is pregnant. The newborn bursts from its mother and swallows Chau before dying. Geiszler and his partner Hermann Gottlieb (Gorman) merge with the baby Kaiju’s intact brain and learn the portal will only open for a Kaiju.

The two remaining Jaegers assemble to execute their plan to destroy the portal with a nuclear weapon. Pentecost co-pilots the Jaeger carrying the warhead, but is forced to detonate it early, sacrificing himself to destroy the powerful Kaijus guarding the portal. Raleigh and Mako seize another Kaiju with Gipsy Danger and use it to enter the portal. Running out of oxygen, Raleigh ejects Mako, initiates the nuclear reactor’s overload sequence, then ejects himself. Gipsy Danger’s nuclear core detonates, laying waste to the alien conquerors and destroying the portal. Mako and Raleigh’s escape pods surface safely in the Pacific, and the duo embrace as rescue helicopters arrive.

In a post-credits scene, Chau—revealed to have survived—cuts his way out of the newborn Kaiju’s stomach.

Yes, i’m one of the slowpoke who have only just watched Pacific Rim today. Seriously, before i talk more, i just wanna say PACIFIC RIM IS MADLY AWESOME! WHY?

First of all, the few minutes of intro already hooked on me. I know everything gonna be awesome. Yes, its a story that focus on the battle but yet mix up with some romance, fatherly love and comedy essence in it. The whole storyline doesn’t go beyond ridiculous too.

Second, the robots. OMAIGOODNESS..At the first glance it reminds me of Real Steel though. But you know. Argh its still unique in its own way. I also love the idea how they connect both pilots brain in order to function the robot. The modeling. Love the detail. JUST LOVE!

Third, the VFX. Nothing much to complain about, its STUNNING! BIG thumbs up to Industrial Light & Magic that created the whole vfx.

Fourth, the cast..You know we don’t see big names like Tom Cruise, Tony Stark, Angelina Jolie etc. But this time the casts did really well. Idris Elba as the Marshal. Charlie Hunnam as Raleigh and most importantly Rinko Kikuchi as Mako that sounds soooo new to me. But the chemistry between them are soo good! I totally love Mako’s role! Not to forget all the supporting roles like Chau, Newton etc. I think they did a superb job too..I’m also loving Mana Ashida as the young Mako. She’s way too adorable and she delivered her expression so well in the young Mako scene!

Fifth, the SFX. WOWOW! The soundtrack..Goodness.

Sixth, environment plays a super important part in a movie too. No offense, but for an example, Man Of Steel. Sorry but the environment is just suck balls. For this, i think its so amazing. Love the interior of Jaeger, the controlling room, the ocean, the destructed city, and Hong Kong! Damn in love with the saturated color palette set for Hong Kong.

I was like what the heck am i watching.

Rating: 10/10 (i don’t mind giving more than 10)

This is what a movie should be like. To blow people’s mind =)

I feel the 2 hours+ worth my time so much. No single boredom or draggy part that makes me think can be removed from the movie.

Just search on Youtube for the behind-the-scene video and you will even get amazed on how this movie is done.

Thumbs up once again to the whole team that created Pacific Rim.

Despicable Me 2 Movie Review

FINALLLYY..Watched this with my buddies just now..

A secret laboratory, somewhere near the Arctic Circle, has just been stolen by a mysterious vehicle using a giant magnet. The Anti-Villain League (AVL) become suspicious about this case as the lab contains a mutating chemical compound, PX-41, which could transform living things into indestructible killing machines. The organization must find someone to stop the mutating chemical from getting into the wrong hands.

To that end, Lucy Wilde, an AVL agent forcibly abducts Gru after stunning him unconscious with her lipstick taser. Two of Gru’s minions who try to thwart her plans are captured also. They travel to AVL’s underwater headquarters where Gru meets the league’s Director, Silas Ramsbottom. He asks Gru to assist them in their efforts to track down the perpetrator and the missing mutagen. Gru refuses, preferring to concentrate on his new venture of producing bottled jellies and the responsibilities of being a father to his three adopted girls, Margo, Agnes and Edith. Before he leaves, Lucy admits she was impressed by his work as a villain and gives her namecard to Gru, urging him to contact her if he changes his mind. Upon return to his lab, Gru realises that his minion-run production line had churned out bottles of awful-tasting jellies. Also, his research scientist, Dr. Nefario confesses to Gru that he misses being “evil” and has been offered employment elsewhere. After giving Dr. Nefario a 21 fart-gun send-off with the minions, Gru contacts Lucy and takes on the task of recovering the stolen mutagen.

Traces of chemical scent given off by the mutagen narrow the search to the confines of The Paradise Shopping Mall. Gru works undercover as the owner of a cupcake shop in that mall with Lucy being assigned as his partner. He suspects one of the owners of a restaurant, named Eduardo, in the mall is an old super-villain called El Macho, who supposedly died after body-strapping TNT and riding a shark into an active volcano that resulted in his fiery demise. Lucy and Gru then decide to break into his restaurant but are spotted by Eduardo’s pet chicken and narrowly escape from being caught by Eduardo when he returns back to his shop late in the night. However, they find only a jar of secret-recipe salsa in his safe and nothing relevant to link Eduardo to the crime. While the team investigates wig merchant Floyd Eagle-san, Margo begins to develop a crush on Eduardo’s son, Antonio, to Gru’s frustration. The whole family is invited to Eduardo’s Cinco de Mayo party at his mansion where Gru’s protectiveness of his daughter leads him to make baseless wild accusations to the AVL’s Silas about Eduardo as El Macho and his son, which are scoffed at.

Later that day, a determined matchmaking neighbour, Jillian, sets a reluctant Gru up on a date with her rude and superficial friend Shannon. During the date, Shannon discovers Gru’s wig and threatens to humiliate him, but Lucy saves him from embarrassment by shooting her with a tranquilizing dart. They take Shannon home, and Gru tells Agnes that he thinks he is in love with Lucy. When he arrives at the mall the next day, the Anti-Villain League arrest Floyd Eagle-san, who protests vehemently that he was framed, after the AVL team uncovers the empty mutagen jar in his shop. Silas tells Gru that the case is now closed and that Lucy will be getting posted to Australia for work. Gru, unable to muster the courage to ask Lucy out despite deliberating for a long time, incinerates his telephone out of frustration.

The family then goes to Eduardo’s party. Gru follows Eduardo and discovers that he was correct about Eduardo being the presumed-dead super-villain El Macho. Gru also discovers that Dr. Nefario has been working for Eduardo and that the duo has been capturing and mutating some of Gru’s minions into the purple-furred monsters using the stolen mutagen serum. Eduardo offers Gru a chance to conquer the world, but Gru makes unconvincing excuses and hastily leaves with the girls. Margo has also broken up with Antonio as he became interested in another girl. For breaking her heart, Gru encases Antonio in a block of ice with his freeze-ray.

Lucy, while in the plane bound for Australia, realizes that she wants to be with Gru, and jumps out to hang-glide to the party. Eduardo discovers her true identity and captures her after his chicken retrieves her AVL ID badge from her purse. Dr. Nefario calls Gru to tell him that Lucy has been captured. Gru disguises two of his minions in purple paint to escort his “captured” self into the Eduardo’s compound in a rescue attempt. Gru manages to restore the minions who were under El Macho’s control using the awful-tasting jam infused with the antidote which Dr. Nefario made and defeats El Macho. After El Macho collapses to the ground, Gru tries to untie Lucy who is strapped onto a TNT-loaded shark rocket. While attempting to do so, Eduardo’s pet chicken triggers the launch remote, sending the pair flying towards the lava-spewing volcano where El Macho faked his death. While on the rocket, Lucy accepts Gru’s date invitation before the pair dives into the safety of the ocean, just seconds before the rocket explodes. One hundred and forty-seven dates later, the two are married and the girls finally have a mother. The minions close with a rendition of “Y.M.C.A” and “I Swear” (mistakenly sung as “Underwear”) while the family dances. However, soon after the final picture is taken, a mutated purple furry minion appears, surprising the family.

During the credits, 3 Minions are seen “auditioning” for the upcoming Minions movie. However, a black wall showing the credits keeps falling and blocking their way.

We watched in 2d..Wow everything is in super HD..Love it. Seriously i guess this is one of the best animation i have ever seen. How do i judge this is based on the overall experience I get, not how beautiful the characters are, how impactful the story is..Simple can be very nice too, for example Despicable Me 2..

I just love the minions! So damn cute can! haha..The front part of the story is slightly draggy until the it has reached the climax. But doesnt matter as its still a very enjoying part to watch though. =) Yeah. It brings you through the exciting moment, funny moment, touching moment and also the very sweet moment at the last part..Ops *spoiler* ..Really love it..And getting audience’s response throughout the movie is already a big success =)

World War Z Movie Review

Former United Nations employee Gerry Lane and his family sit in heavy traffic inPhiladelphia while the radio reports on a mysterious rabies outbreak that has spread internationally. They are attacked by masses of zombies, and those bitten become zombies as well. As the east coast falls prey to the attacks, the Lanes narrowly escape and flee to an apartment complex to be extracted by a helicopter sent by Gerry’s former UN colleague, Thierry Umutoni, the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations.

They reach the helicopter and are taken to a U.S. Navy vessel off the coast of New York City, where a team of analysts and military personnel is analyzing the scope of the worldwide outbreak. A virologist, Dr. Andrew Fassbach, argues that the plague is a virus, whose origin must be found in order for a vaccine to be developed. The naval commander tells Gerry that, because of his expertise as a former UN investigator, he is to investigate the virus and help Fassbach find the outbreak’s source. After the Navy threatens to kick Gerry and his family off the ship if he doesn’t help, Gerry reluctantly agrees to fly to Camp Humphreys, a military base in South Korea where the word “zombie” was supposedly first used in reference to the outbreak.

Arriving at the base, they are attacked and Fassbach accidentally discharges his weapon, killing himself. At the base, Gerry learns from the survivors that the zombies are attracted to noise. The commander also informs Gerry of a local who was found foaming at the mouth and bit a doctor, and shows him to a room of incinerated bodies, where the soldiers on duty first saw the outbreak. Gunter Haffner, a former CIA operative imprisoned for treason, tells Gerry to go to Jerusalem, where the Israeli Mossadhas established a safe zone just before the outbreak was officially acknowledged, implying Israel might have had prior knowledge.

In Jerusalem, Gerry meets Mossad leader Jurgen Warmbrunn, who explained that the agency had months earlier intercepted communications from an army general in India, which stated that Indian troops were fighting the “Rakshasa,” or undead. With this knowledge and using a program implemented to prevent Israel being caught off guard, as in past conflicts, the city quarantined itself, though it still allows uninfected civilians, regardless of nationality, to enter. Due to loud noises coming from within the zone, however, thousands of infected and rabid zombies on the other side of the perimeter walls begin piling onto each other and climb over. Chaos erupts, and one of Gerry’s escort soldiers, Segen, is bitten. Gerry immediately amputates her hand to prevent her from turning into a zombie, and they escape from Jerusalem on a commercial airliner.

Contacting Thierry, they are diverted to a W.H.O. research facility in Cardiff, Wales to assist in finding a cure. With the plane closing in on the W.H.O. facility, a stowaway zombie emerges from the bathroom and begins attacking passengers. As other passengers begin to turn and converge on Gerry and Segen, Gerry detonates a grenade that sucks the zombies out of the plane, destroying the plane’s turbine in the process. The plane crashes, with Segen and an injured Gerry as the only apparent survivors. They arrive at the facility, where Gerry deduces that the infected do not bite people who are already ill or injured, since they would be unsuitable as hosts for viral reproduction. He volunteers to test a terminal but curable pathogen on himself to see if his idea works. However, the wing in which the pathogens are stored is now overrun with over 80 zombies, due to a doctor accidentally infecting himself and his colleagues. Gerry fights his way through the zombies into the pathogen storage vault, injects himself with a sample, and successfully returns to the main lab without being attacked. Seeing that his “camouflage” theory works, the doctors rejoice and immediately treat him.

Gerry returns to his family, now relocated to a safe zone at Freeport, Nova Scotia. A “vaccine” derived from deadly pathogens is developed that can act as camouflage for the troops battling the infected, and for fleeing civilians. As human offensives begin against the zombies, humanity now has hope, but Gerry notes that, “This isn’t the end, not even close.”

Ok been getting a few positive reviews from friends about this movie except the ending..Its an almost 2 hours movie but for me i think everything just fine. Not too draggy or too short. Storyline not bad too..Nonetheless, Brad Pitt! So awesome..I think the VFX is kinda great too. Simple but reach its own purposes. Not too over.

Seriously i think this is a good movie though..Just the ending ends too abrupt. A clearer explanation can be made too. Besides, I think the zombie attack can be even more exegerrating and create a bigger impact.

Man Of Steel Movie Review

Went for Man Of Steel just now and was shocked when i realised the movie is 2.5 hours long. But that didnt bother me so much because i have been getting so many positive comments from friends.

The planet Krypton faces imminent destruction due to an unstable core, and its ruling council is under the threat of rebel General Zod and his followers. Scientist Jor-El and his wife Lara launch a spacecraft carrying their newborn son Kal-El and a genetic codex to Earth to preserve the Kryptonian race. After Zod murders Jor-El, he and his followers are banished to the Phantom Zone, but manage to escape when Krypton explodes. The infant Kal-El lands on Earth in Smallville, Kansas, where he is discovered by couple Jonathan and Martha Kent, who name him Clark and raise him as their adopted son.

Clark’s Kryptonian physiology affords him superhuman abilities on Earth. With Martha’s support, young Clark gradually learns to hone the abilities that initially cause him confusion and discomfort. Jonathan reveals to a teenage Clark that he is an alien, and advises him to not utilize his powers publicly, fearing that society would reject him. After Jonathan is killed by a tornado, an adult Clark spends the next several years living a nomadic lifestyle, working different jobs under false names to cover his tracks and hide his identity. He eventually discovers a Kryptonian scout ship with technology that allows him to communicate with the consciousness of Jor-El in the form of a hologram. Lois Lane, a young journalist from the Daily Planet, also discovers the ship while pursuing a story, and is rescued by Clark when she is injured. Lois’s editor Perry White rejects her story of a “superhuman” rescuer, so she traces Clark back to Smallville with the intention of writing an exposé. After hearing his story, she decides to keep his secret.

Detecting the scout ship, Zod travels to Earth where he demands that Kal-El surrender to him, or humanity will suffer the consequences. Clark agrees to surrender to the U.S. military, who hand Lois and Clark over to Zod’s second in command, Faora, at Zod’s request. Zod reveals that he intends to use a terraforming “world engine” to transform Earth into a Krypton-like planet, to eradicate the human population, and to use the codex to repopulate the planet with genetically-engineered Kryptonians. After Clark and Lois escape the ship, Clark confronts and defeats Faora’s force in Smallville, convincing the military that he is on their side. Learning that the codex is imprinted into Clark’s own genetic structure, Zod deploys the world engine and initiates the terraforming in Metropolis and over the Indian ocean.

To stop this attack, Clark, now dubbed “Superman”, and Lois inform the US military that using the spacecraft that brought Superman to Earth in an aerial strike against Zod’s ship will create a portal to return Zod’s ship and crew to the Phantom Zone. After Superman stops the world engine in the Indian Ocean, the military succeeds in their mission. Zod, having been separated from his ship earlier, still remains, and he and Superman engage each other. After a battle, Superman is forced to kill Zod to save a group of innocent civilians from being murdered by Zod. Superman decides to blend into the normal world by resuming the identity of Clark Kent, and is hired by White as a reporter for the Daily Planet.

From the first 30 minutes, i feel everything is so draggy. I told myself there’re another 2 hours more to go. Climax is not here yet.

End up, the rest 2 hours are still a huge disappointment. Why?

Firstly, like what has been mentioned. Introduction is really draggy. Secondly, i feel the overall storyline doesn’t sound logic? Its too sci-fi-ish. Am i watching a superhero or sci-fi film? Nolan did a bad job for the storyline this time. Third, the environment just look that boring for me. If they are creating sci-fi environment, there’re so many sci-fi environments that are much better than this. Fourth, Superman aka Clark, himself doesn’t stand out enough. Its like I see him, i forget right after that..Fifth, is it me or the cinematography look really weird? Really really weird..Something unusual that i don see in normal superheroes film. Sixth, the editing sucks. Damn.. Even the VFX don’t impress me at all.

So overall don’t really worth for the 2.5 hours. Dark Knight trilogy is what i call GOLD! Man of steel is such a let down.

Iron Man 3 Movie Review

Tony Stark recalls a New Years Eve party in 1999 with scientist Maya Hansen, inventor ofExtremis—an experimental regenerative treatment intended to allow recovery from crippling injuries. Disabled scientist Aldrich Killian offers them a place in his company Advanced Idea Mechanics, but is turned down.

Years later, Stark’s experiences during the alien invasion of New York are giving him panic attacks. Restless, he has built several Iron Man suits, creating friction with his girlfriendPepper Potts. A string of bombings by terrorist the Mandarin has left intelligence agencies bewildered by lack of forensic evidence. When Stark Industries security chief Happy Hoganis badly injured in one such attack, Stark overcomes his stupor and issues a televised threat to the Mandarin, who responds by destroying Stark’s home with helicopter gunships. Hansen, who had come to warn Stark, and Potts survive the attack. Stark then finds himself in rural Tennessee after his artificial intelligenceJARVIS followed a flight plan from Stark’s investigation into the Mandarin. Stark’s experimental armor lacks sufficient power to return to California, and the world believes him dead.

Teaming with Harley, a precocious 10-year-old boy, Stark investigates the remains of a local explosion bearing the hallmarks of a Mandarin attack. He discovers the “bombings” were triggered by soldiers subjected to Extremis, which at this stage of development can cause certain subjects to explosively reject it. After veterans started exploding, their deaths were used to cover up Extremis’ flaws by manufacturing a terrorist plot. Stark witnesses Extremis firsthand when Mandarin agents Ellen Brandt and Eric Savin attack him.

With Harley’s help, Stark traces the Mandarin to Miami and infiltrates his headquarters using improvised weapons. Inside he discovers the Mandarin is actually a British actor, Trevor Slattery, who says that he is oblivious to the actions carried out in his name. The Mandarin is a creation of Killian, who appropriated Hansen’s Extremis research as a cure for his own disability and expanded the program to include injured war veterans. After capturing Stark, Killian reveals he is the true Mandarin; he has kidnapped Potts and subjected her to Extremis to gain Stark’s aid in fixing Extremis’ flaws and thereby saving Pepper. Killian kills Hansen when she has a change of heart about the plan.

Killian has also manipulated American intelligence agencies regarding the Mandarin’s location, luring James Rhodes—the former War Machine, now re-branded as the Iron Patriot—into a trap to steal the armor. Stark escapes and reunites with Rhodes, discovering that Killian intends to attack President Ellis aboard Air Force One. Remotely controlling his Iron Man armor, Stark saves some surviving passengers and crew but cannot stop Killian from abducting Ellis. They trace Killian to an impounded oil-drilling platform where Killian intends to kill Ellis on live television. The vice president will become a puppet leader, following Killian’s orders in exchange for Extremis to cure his daughter’s disability.

On the platform, Stark goes to save Potts, and Rhodes saves the president. Stark summons each of his Iron Man suits, controlled remotely by JARVIS, to provide air support. Rhodes secures the president and leads him to safety, while Stark discovers Potts has survived the Extremis procedure. However, before he can save her, a rig collapses around them and she falls to her apparent death. Stark confronts Killian and traps him in an Iron Man suit that self-destructs, but fails to kill him. Potts, whose Extremis powers allowed her to survive her fall, intervenes and kills Killian.

After the battle, Stark orders JARVIS to destroy each Iron Man suit as a sign of his intention to devote more time to Potts. The vice president and Slattery are arrested. With Stark’s help, Potts’ Extremis effects are stabilized, and Stark undergoes surgery to remove the shrapnel embedded near his heart. He pitches his obsolete chest arc reactor into the sea, musing he will always be Iron Man.

In a present day post-credits scene, Stark wakes up Dr. Bruce Banner, who fell asleep listening at the beginning of Stark’s story.

I’m not a superrrrrrr big fan of Iron Man to be honest. But i did watched part 1 and part 2. And it seems its getting quite a lot of good comments from my friends. And this time 5 of us watched together, and surprisingly this is the second time for 3 of them. Wow..Its hardly for them to watch a movie for 2 times..lol..

Ok seriously for i think its really good..Tony Stark is a character that have different characteristics on him, thats what i like about him. Story is good, sfx is good!

VFX is stunning as well..Really love it..And most importantly, the suits..Gosh, seeing all the suits appearing together is like smoking weeds..Had goosebumps lol.

Overall its really great. 9/10

Ip Man: The Final Fight 叶问:终极一战

Went to watch IP Man : The final fight..Part 1 and part 2 were really really good and i was quite anticipating for this.

In 1949, Ip Man, who has been suffering from chronic gastric problems, travels alone to Hong Kong to seek new means of livelihood. He starts by teaching Wing Chun on the rooftop of a building which houses a hotel staff’s general association. He meets and accepts many new students, including Tang Shing, Leung Sheung, Lee King and Chan Sei-mui. During that period of time, Ip Man’s wife Cheung Wing-sing also comes to Hong Kong to join her husband, but returns to Foshan shortly after because life in Hong Kong is hard. The couple never saw each other again.

Ip Man: The Final Fight portrays a realistic account of Ip Man’s later life in Hong Kong: he struggles against the vicissitudes of life; he insists on pursuing a romance with the singer Jenny after his wife’s death, against the wishes of his disciples; his father-son and master-apprentice relationships with his elder son Ip Chun; his thoughts on Bruce Lee, who would become his most celebrated student.

Hmm but it turns out not that good that i expected. Storyline was more focus on his later life. 80%-90% of the movie were talking like how he behave in his daily life, about his wife, his students etc. Well, its not boring, but just that the selling point of IP man supposed to be more to using Wing Chun during conflicts or something laidat.

Even the ending also does not really leave a big impact until it gives me goosebump like part 2..

Secondly, this time they also rebuild the whole environment but the set location does not look realistic enough..It just don’t really bring me into that generation.

Thirdly, somehow the cast also not really suitable for the role of Ip Man. Im not sure why or maybe Donnie Yen in part 2 left too deep impression in me.

If you are a fan of Ip Man film, still worth to catch it though.

The Croods

Went for a 10pm movie with friends after sooo long..Not sure when is the last time we had movie together..

The film starts with Eep (Emma Stone), a girl in a family of NeanderthalCavemen (homo neanderthalensis) living in pre-historic times, talking about how her family is one of the few to survive nearby, mainly due to the strict rules of her overprotective father Grug (Nicolas Cage). When in their cave home, Grug tells a story to the rest of the family which includes his wife Ugga (Catherine Keener), his daughter Sandy (Randy Thom), his son Thunk (Clark Duke), and his mother-in-law (Cloris Leachman) with a character that mirrors Eep’s curious nature. He uses this story to warn the family that exploration and ‘new things’ pose a threat to their survival. This irritates the bored and adventurous Eep, and when the family falls asleep after dark, she ignores her father’s advice, and leaves the cave.

While venturing off, she meets Guy (Ryan Reynolds), an intelligent caveboy (homo sapien). She becomes fascinated with the fire he manages to create and is eager to learn more. He tells her about his theory that the world is reaching its ‘end,’ before giving her a noise-making horn to call him if she feels the need for help. He then abandons Eep, who is then caught by Grug (who had been frantically searching for her). Much later, he brings her back home, only to find that their cave home has collapsed from an earthquake. All the family then climb over the wreckage to discover an other-worldly land, much different from their usual surroundings of rocky terrain.

While becoming aware of their new surroundings, the family are attacked by some deadly red-furred birds. In an act of panic, Eep sounds a horn similar to that which Guy gave her. Guy hears this and rushes to her. Thinking quickly, he creates a torch of fire, which scares the birds away. The rest of the family are then captivated by the fire, having never seen it before. They steal Guy’s torch and accidentally set the land around them up in flames. Eventually some giant corn is lit, which all rockets up to the sky, prompting a display of fireworks. After feeling impressed with Guy’s intelligence and mind of ‘ideas,’ Grug bottles him in a hollow log to carry him in, then suggests that they take solitude in the cave of a nearby mountain mentioned by Guy. Guy is forcibly persuaded to lead the way, and soon begins to learn of the Croods’ way of living, which he thinks of as unusual.

After an unsuccessful hunting attempt, Guy along with his ‘pet’ sloth, Belt (Chris Sanders), as well as Eep, build a puppet to fool and lure nearby animals. Having captured something afterwards, the family greedily devour everything they caught. Guy and Eep, however, are more sparing. The others realize their greediness and stop eating. Grug then tells another of his morale-lowering tales, this time mirroring the events of their day, mentioning a girl Grug and Ugga had before Eep was born who did venture away from her cave and died. Guy then tells a story of his own, about a paradise he nicknames “Tomorrow.”

In the morning, the family reaches a path coated in spiked rocks. A freed Guy then presents one of his various inventions called shoes. He makes some out of all the resources he can find, for each family member. This gains him some respect from the others, except for Grug, who starts to feel jealous of Guy’s cleverness. After a slew of Guy’s ideas help the Croods on their continuing journey, they all reach a tree to stop for another night. Everyone but Grug decide to change their path to “Tomorrow.” The next day, a ‘desperate’ and left-out Grug shows the others some of his ideas, which all end up failing. Grug, unable to convince the family that settling in a cave is a better option, reaches to full anger, and proceeds to attack Guy. The two become stuck in tar and Guy reveals his family died drowning in it. Grug has a change of heart towards Guy, before he and Guy free themselves.

They all reach the land of “Tomorrow” just in time. Grug throws them over the pit so they can cross. Then he uses a decaying skeleton carried by birds, to transport himself there barely escaping the oncoming destruction. He and the whole Crood family settle down as Grug becomes less protective, letting the family be more adventurous and risk-taking, thus bringing happiness to them all.

Yeap, another animated film by Dreamworks and main lead voice over by Nicolas Cage and Emma Stone.

Talking about character design, i would still prefer Brave..Its really much better..But then, this has a lottttttt of characters and their environment are really nice too.

What i like the most is the story. A mixture of touching and humourous..Too many funny scenes lol..You also get to feel the family love and how the father willing to sacrifice for the kids. =) I believe some of you might cry when the movie get to almost the end.

Songs are pretty similiar to Brave i would say. and the official soundtrack ” SHINE YOUR WAY” was sang by Yuna and Owl City!

Just get back to KL few days ago and suddenly family decided to grab a movie at 12.30am midnight! Been such along time nvr watch movie in this time slot.

Went with siblings and also this is my first time movie with daddy! wow

Watch the first part last time and decided to watch part 2..lol..

Of coz its stil starring the same lead cast 阿牛饰 and the pretty Elanne Kwong 江若琳! Also with the supporting casts remained. But this time a few people like 王心如 & 杜汶泽 made a special appearance too.

Hmm..To be honest i would say part 1 is funnier and the story is more focus too. Part 2 i was expecting the story to focus on how the husband and wife life will be after having the baby. But in fact, there’s another big role acted by 王心如 was introduced which doesn’t fully make sense because this is not happening to EVERY families. Thus a bit misleading for me.

Ah Boys to Men 新兵正传

Another movie with friends..CZ12, The Hobbit, Les Miserables, Ah boys to Men all are in pending list.

But after that we decided to watch Ah boys to Men since all of have not watched yet.

Ah Boys to Men: Part One opens with the Republic of Singapore apparently being under an immense terrorist attack, with iconic Singaporean landmarks (such as the Merlion and theEsplanade) coming under fire and many civilians killed brutally. It is later revealed that the war was fictitious setting of a war-based role-playing game played by Ken Chow (Joshua Tan), a rich and spoiled child reluctant to enlist into National Service. Ken plans to study abroad with his girlfriend (Qiu Qiu), but his plans are derailed by NS. As Ken leaves the gaming centre, his girlfriend chides him for his childishness. In a bid to prove his bravery, Ken kicks a rubbish bin, to be apprehended by two policemen in the vicinity, as his girlfriend walks away, disappointed and embarrassed. Back home, after being driven back by his father (Richard Low), Ken confides to his parents about his fears of National Service. His overprotective mother (Irene Ang) decides to help him think of ways to defer, but to no avail. Eventually, they are all forced to face the hard truth – there is no going against the law. The Chow family sadly send off Ken on the day of his enlisting. Thereafter, Ken and a few other recruits are assigned to Ninja Company (Platoon 2, Section 2) and are sent to their bunk and introduced to their Platoon Sergeant (Tosh Rock Zhang), a portrayal of the tough-nails sergeant stereotype. Whilst waiting for the mandatory haircut, Ken gets to know a few people – “Lobang” (Wang Wei Liang), Aloysius Jing Sia-lan [Sia-lan being a reference to a crude Hokkien slang term meaning extreme disgrace] (Maxi Lim) and “I.P. Man” (Noah Yap).

After a two weeks’ worth of training, Ken and the other recruits are allowed to book out. A lavish party is thrown to celebrate Ken’s return, but his mood is ruined when he is shown a photo of his girlfriend with another man. Ken angrily confronts her and demands that they meet, which she agrees to. She later admits that she has fallen for another man and dumps Ken on the highway. Determined to win her back, Ken devises a plan to escape from Pulau Tekong and send her off, for he feels she is merely just testing him. Ken stops drinking water, in hopes to get a heat stroke, for which he would be sent home for ten days; he takes the extra measure of sleeping under a ceiling-fan after dousing himself in cold water . However, he gets into a situation worse than expected and he is quickly sent off to a hospital after collapsing during training. Ken’s father is alerted of his son’s critical condition while in a company meeting. He quickly drives off to the hospital, but the shock and strain is too much and suffers a heart attack while driving and violently collides with another vehicle.

Ken wakes up in the next scene, surrounded by his two sisters, in a hospital ward. He realises his foolish actions have caused much trouble for many people and cannot bear to face his father, who has survived the car crash and is recuperating in another ward in the same hospital. Awakened to reality, Ken is finally fit enough to go back to training. The episode ends at this junction, and snippets of the next episode are shown.

Early part was a bit lame though. Not gonna reveal much. Watch it yourself..For the action part, its a nice try though especially for Msia and Sg movies. Its kinda rare to see this kind of sci fi scenes. lol. For the vfx, i would say it has a very very big room of improvement to reach hollywood level. The explosions, fires etc.

For the story..I was laughing throughout the whole movies. The story involves everything in NS, family and couple relationship. Haha..You will understand better and join in the laughter if you understand Hokkien. Quite nice though!

Besides, esp us Malaysians, make us more familiar with the stuffs going on in Singapore..like their rules, what they do, where is their training location etc. I guess it has big big difference from what National service in malaysia had..lolol

Also the casts are new from what we seen from the previous movies from Jack Neo..This time they are focus more on bloggers and vloggers i think like Noah, Tosh, Qiu qiu..They did a good job especially Tosh Rock Zhang..Love his role as the sergeant! Not to forget Lobang King that bring most of the laughters to us. lol

Don stress and have a good laugh in the cinema!

Life of Pi

Seeing all the presentation has finished..As usual 4 of us went for movie just now..

Pi Patel, an immigrant from India living in Canada, is approached by a local novelist who has been referred to him by his “uncle” (a family friend), believing that Pi’s life story would make a great book. Pi relates an extended tale:

He is named “Piscine Molitor” by his parents after a swimming pool in France. He changes his name to “Pi” when he begins secondary school, because he is tired of being taunted with the nickname “Pissing Patel”. His family owns a local zoo, and Pi takes a curious interest in the animals, especially a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker (after a clerical error); to teach him the reality of the tiger’s nature as a carnivore, Pi’s father forces him to witness it killing a goat. He is raised Hindu and vegetarian, but at 12 years old, he is introduced to Christianityand then Islam, and starts to follow all three religions (as an adult he states that he is Catholic-Hindu, and when asked if he is also Jewish, he replies that he lectures in Kabbalahat the university).

When he is 16 (and experiencing first love), his father decides to close the zoo, and move to Canada due to political concerns in India. They book passage for themselves and their animals (to be sold in North America) on a Japanese freighter named the Tsimtsum. The ship encounters a heavy storm and begins to sink while Pi is on deck marveling at it. He tries to find his family, but is thrown overboard with a lifeboat, and watches helplessly as the ship sinks, killing his family and its crew.

After the storm, Pi finds himself in the lifeboat with an injured zebra, and is joined by anorangutan who lost her child in the shipwreck. A hyena emerges from the tarp covering half of the boat, and before long begins to eat the injured zebra, killing it. To Pi’s distress, the hyena also mortally wounds the orangutan in a fight. Suddenly Richard Parker emerges from under the tarp, and kills the hyena.

Pi finds emergency food and water rations on the boat, and builds a small raft of floatation devices for him to stay at a safe distance from Richard Parker. Realizing that he must feed the tiger to protect himself, Pi begins fishing, with some success. He also collects rain water for both to drink, and helps a desperate Richard Parker climb back into the boat after the cat leaves it to hunt fish. In a nighttime encounter with a breaching whale, Pi loses much of his supplies, and faced with starvation eats fish himself. After many days at sea Pi realizes that he can no longer live on the tiny raft and trains Richard Parker to accept him in the boat. He also realizes that caring for the tiger is keeping him alive.

After weeks longer at sea, they reach a floating island of edible algae supporting a forest, fresh water, and a large population of meerkats, enabling both Pi and Richard Parker to eat and drink freely and regain strength. But at night the island transforms into a hostile environment, with the fresh water turning acidic. Pi finds a human tooth inside a plant and concludes that the plants are carnivorous, requiring them to leave the island.

The lifeboat eventually reaches the coast of Mexico. Finally back on land, Richard Parker walks into the jungle without even looking back at Pi to “say goodbye”. Pi is taken to a hospital, where insurance agents for the Japanese freighter come to hear his account of the incident. They find his story unbelievable, and ask him to tell them what “really” happened, if only for the credibility of their report. He answers with a less fantastic but detailed account of sharing the lifeboat with his mother, a sailor with a broken leg, and the ship’s cook. In this story, the cook kills the sailor, and then Pi’s mother, to use them as bait and food. Pi then kills the cook in revenge.

In the present, the writer notes parallels between the two stories: the orangutan was Pi’s mother, the zebra was the sailor, the hyena was the cook, and Richard Parker, the tiger, was Pi himself. Pi asks him which story he prefers; he chooses the story with the tiger. Glancing at a copy of the insurance report, the writer notices a closing comment about the remarkable feat of surviving 227 days at sea… especially with a tiger; the agents chose that story as well.

Seeing sooo many positive reviews from friends and even the high rating on IMDB..Yes its nice but then, maybe still never really touch to the point yet.

Very nice and new concept for the story most importantly. And the animation..Its just freaking awesome i would say..Mindblowing CG..Everything is nicely done include the sfx..

But maybe i expecting a more dramatic ending..=) 2 hours..You should give it a try.

The Dark Knight Rises

Thanks for Yuberactive and i get 2 free tickets for The Dark Knight Rises movie. my bestie all went back d, so someone actually went to watched with me =)

On the way. Chatting while stucking in jam. wtheck it took us 45 mins to reach. Hate working hour.

just playing with my panorama app while waiting.

Ok lets move to the movie! After hearing so much comments how great Dark knight rises is..I expect even much more already.

Eight years have passed since the events of The Dark Knight. Though organised and violent crime has been almost eradicated due to the powers of the Dent Act, Commissioner Jim Gordon still feels guilty over lying to the public. He prepares a speech explaining the truth but fails to read it at a charity ball at Wayne Manor. Selina Kyle, in the employ of corrupt businessman John Daggett, attends the ball and steals Bruce Wayne’s fingerprints. She flees with Martha Wayne’s pearls and abducts a congressman. Kyle meets with Daggett’s henchman to trade the prints for software capable of expunging her criminal past. However once betrayed, she alerts the police to the congressman’s whereabouts and escapes while Daggett’s men escape through the sewer where Bane has been living. Gordon follows the men but is captured and his speech taken by Bane. Shot in the process, Gordon is saved by Officer John Blake – who he then promotes to detective.

Blake deduces Batman’s identity and urges Bruce Wayne to return as Batman, alerting Bruce to the fact that his company is crumbling. Wayne Enterprises invested in a clean energy project with Miranda Tate, and after learning that the core could be modified to become a nuclear weapon, the project was closed, leading to financial loss. Bane, under orders by Daggett, attacks the stock exchange – bankrupting Bruce Wayne and traps Batman where he barely escapes. Alfred Pennyworth then retires in hopes to persuade Bruce from continuing as Batman. To Daggett’s dismay, Miranda is elected as the new chairman, and then he is killed by Bane. Bruce then finds Bane, with the help of Kyle who then betrays him in a bid to save herself – leaving Batman to fight Bane alone. Bane breaks Batman’s back and imprisons him in his former prison while gaining access to Bruce’s armory. There Bruce learns the origins of Bane and the League of Shadows.

Kyle attempts to flee Gotham but is arrested on kidnapping charges while Bane traps the majority of Gotham’s police underground, sets off bombs throughout Gotham, killing the Mayor in the process, and destroying any means of exiting Gotham by land. Converting Wayne’s project into a nuclear bomb, Bane arms an anonymous citizen with the trigger who will detonate the device should anyone leave Gotham – unbeknownst to the citizens, the bomb will detonate regardless in five months. Bane also frees the prisoners of the Dent Act – reading Gordon’s stolen speech – while members of Gotham’s high society are dragged from their homes and sentenced to death by Jonathan Crane. A small resistance is mounted by Gordon, Blake and other remaining police officers who primarily track the Bomb’s location as it is transported throughout the city in one of three trucks.

Meanwhile, Bruce escapes imprisonment and returns as Batman – saving Gordon from death, freeing the trapped officers and granting Kyle the program Daggett had promised her in return for opening an escape route out of the city. The entire police force, with Batman leading, stage an assault on Bane and his men at City Hall. Batman betters Bane only for Miranda to stab him, revealing her identity is actually Talia al Ghul, the daughter of Ra’s al Ghul and the only other to escape from the prison where her mother had given birth to her where Bane had acted as her protector – his mask a method of dulling pain of injuries sustained in her defense. Gordon prevents Talia (also the trigger bearer) from detonating the bomb by jamming the remote signal. Talia then leaves Batman to Bane, but Kyle comes on the Batpod to save Batman, killing Bane in the process. Batman uses “The Bat”, a specialized aircraft devised by Fox, to force Talia off a road, killing her. Batman, with no options left in the wake of Talia flooding the fusion chamber that would stop the bomb, flies the bomb over Gotham Bay – appearing to sacrifice himself – where it detonates safely.

Following the explosion, Batman is hailed as a hero with a statue erected in his honor while Bruce is declared dead. As his estate is divided, Martha Wayne’s pearls are noted as missing; presumably explained when Alfred witnesses Bruce and Selina together in a café in Florence – fulfilling a wish made earlier in the film that Bruce would one day be able to move on. Bruce also leaves coordinates for the Batcave to Blake – who resigned from the Gotham City Police Department and whose first name is Robin – suggesting the continuation of the Batman.

Ok this movie actually last almost 3 hours long but i don see any draggy storyline. In fact, i love how the story get to the main point just after a while the show starts. Shouln’t post too much regarding the story. I don’t wan to be the spoiler.

I love Bane here. Lol..

woo catwoman ❤

3 hours with very well developed story and a bit of twisting as well..Very nice visuals and of course Hans Zimmer did it again. the sound..big thumbs up.

And this not going to be like normal super heroes movies where he fight, win and save people thats it. But..ya its just different. watch it. lol.

A bit touching storyline too and…

ya. it just never gets boring seriously.

One thing i don like is the ending of Bane =) A bit abrupt imo.

But overall its AMAZING!

Whoever thinks that spiderman or avengers are effing amazing. ya..They are amazing(i used to think that), but now. The Dark Knight rises..only what i call  a FREAKING AWESOME movie..

I don’t like a superhero movie which its all just to show how great the hero is but without a really strong story behind..but dark knight rises definitely not.

3 hours? worth every seconds..

The whole production did a very good job..Thumbs up Christopher Nolan.

Movie Review : Brave

Hoho..Had dinner with shibin sean felicia kelseyz and stephanie. lol.3+3 = 6 musketeers.

brave poster

After that we went for movie, BRAVE! Finally a movie after soo long..lol.

In Scotland, King Fergus of Clan DunBroch presents his young daughter Merida with a bow for her birthday. While practicing with the bow, Merida briefly encounters a will-o’-the-wispas a giant demon bear named Mor’du attacks the family. Merida escapes along with her mother Queen Elinor while Fergus fights off the bear alongside his men at the cost of his left leg. Years later, Elinor has since given birth to identical triplet boys, and Merida has become a free-spirited and adventurous teenager. One night, her mother informs her she is to be betrothed to one of her father’s allied clans: Dingwall, Macintosh, or MacGuffin. Oblivious to her mother’s attempts to appease her by telling her a legend of a power-hungry prince who broke off from his duty and caused the ruin of a kingdom, Merida is dissatisfied with the arranged marriage.

The clans arrive with their first-born sons to compete in the Highland Games for Merida’s hand, and the princess chooses archery as the main event. During the competition, Lord Dingwall’s son wins by accident. Entering the competition, Merida says that as the first-born of Clan DunBroch she is eligible to compete for her own hand, and later has a falling-out with Elinor. When Merida destroys a tapestry depicting her family and Elinor burns her bow, Merida flees to the forest. While there, the Will O’ The Wisps lead her to the hut of an elderlywitch who insists she is a wood carver. After some bargaining, the witch agrees to give Merida a spell, in the form of a cake, to change her mother.

Merida returns to the castle and gives Elinor the cake, transforming her into a bear. With the help of her brothers, Merida helps Elinor escape from the castle. The pair return to the witch’s cottage, finding the witch gone for the season. Through a potion-controlled automated message, Merida discovers that the spell will be permanent unless undone by the second sunrise. The witch leaves Merida a riddle, mentioning that a pride-torn bond must be repaired. The next morning, Merida and her mother begin to reconcile their relationship while gathering fish and playing in a nearby river. However, Merida observes the spell to be slowly becoming permanent, transforming Elinor into a wild bear. The pair encounters the wisps again and follows them to ancient ruins, learning that Mor’du was once the prince of Elinor’s legend, and received the same spell from the witch. After fleeing an attack from Mor’du, Merida theorizes that the repair of the tapestry will turn her mother human again and prevent her from becoming like Mor’du.

At the castle, the clans are on the verge of war because of Merida’s actions, but the princess quells their fighting and declares that the children should be allowed to get married in their own time. Her suitors second her and the lords agree. Merida then sneaks into the tapestry room with Elinor, who once again loses her humanity for a few minutes. Fergus goes to his bedchambers to find Elinor, but mistakes her to be dead after seeing the room destroyed. Elinor attacks both Merida and Fergus when he steps into their room. On regaining human consciousness, she races out of the castle in desperation. Thinking that Elinor is Mor’du, Fergus detains Merida and follows Elinor. With the help of her brothers, now transformed into cubs from eating the cake, Merida races after her father while fixing the tapestry. As the clan members and Fergus capture Elinor, Merida intervenes; however, Mor’du attacks Merida, Fergus and the clan members. Elinor kills Mor’du by luring him under a falling masonry, setting the spirit of the prince free.

Merida places the tapestry over Elinor, professes her love for her mother and reconciles. Elinor is transformed back along with the triplets, and the family is reunited once again. A few days later, the clans depart for their respective lands and Merida and Elinor ride their horses together, sharing a closer relationship than before.

The Avengers Movie Review

Finally! Even im in Melaka, but i just cant wait to watch! Don wish to wait anymore! hehe.

Plus before this keep hearing all the positive comments about this.

Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson), director of the espionage agency S.H.I.E.L.D., arrives at a remote research facility during an evacuation. The Tesseract, an energy source of unknown potential, has activated and opened a portal through space, from which the exiled Norse god Loki (Tom Hiddleston) steps through. Loki takes the Tesseract, and uses his abilities to control the minds of several S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel including agent Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner), and physicist consultant Dr. Erik Selvig (Stellan Skarsgard) in order to aid in his getaway.

In response to the attack, Fury reactivates the Avengers Initiative. Agent Natasha Romanoff(Scarlett Johannson) is sent to India to recruit Dr. Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), while Agent Philip Coulson (Clark Gregg), approaches Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and requests that he reviews Dr. Selvig’s research. Fury himself approaches Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) with an assignment to retrieve the Tesseract from Loki. During his exile, Loki encountered the Chitauri, an alien race seeking to conquer the galaxy with the Tesseract. In exchange for the Tesseract, the Chitauri agree to help Loki subjugate Earth.

Iron Man, Captain America, and Romanoff travel to Germany to apprehend Loki, who is stealingiridium needed to stabilize the Tesseract’s power and demanding that the civilians kneel before him. After a battle with Captain America, Loki surrenders and is escorted back to a S.H.I.E.L.D. plane. However, Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Loki’s adoptive brother and the Norse god of thunder, arrives and attempts to free Loki to reason with him. Iron Man and Captain America confront Thor, and Loki is eventually returned to the Helicarrier, a high-tech, flying aircraft carrier, and placed in a cell designed to hold The Hulk.

The Avengers are divided, both over how to approach Loki and the revelation that S.H.I.E.L.D. plan to harness the Tesseract’s power to develop weapons. Fury admits that the events in New Mexico a year before made S.H.I.E.L.D. aware of other races on other worlds, some of which may see Earth as an easy target. The decision was made to produce weapons with the Tesseract as a means of deterrence. As the group argues, Clint Barton and Loki’s possessed agents attack the Helicarrier, disabling its engines in flight. As Stark and Rogers attempt to restart the damaged engines, Dr. Banner transforms into the Hulk, despite Romanoff’s best efforts to calm him down, and runs amok inside the ship, fighting Thor are both ejected from the ship. During a fight with Barton, Romanoff discovers that a blow to the head — powerful enough to knock Barton unconscious — is enough to break Loki’s mind control. The Helicarrier lands on the surface of the ocean, but Loki escapes and traps Thor in his cell. In addition to this, when Coulson tries to attack Loki, (with a gun that he doesn’t even know what it does) he stabbed Coulson in the back, killing him.

Fury uses Coulson’s death to motivate the Avengers into working as a team. Stark and Rogers realize that simply defeating them will not be enough for Loki; he needs to overpower them in a very public way so as to validate himself as ruler of Earth. Using a device built by Dr. Selvig, Loki opens a portal to the Chitauri fleet over Manhattan, summoning a Chitauri invasion.

The Avengers rally in defense of New York, but quickly come to the conclusion that they will be overwhelmed as wave after wave of Chitauri descend upon Earth. With help from Hawkeye, Captain America and Thor evacuate civilians, while Dr. Banner transforms into the Hulk again and goes after Loki, beating him into submission. Black Widow makes her way to the portal, where Dr. Selvig, freed of Loki’s control, reveals that Loki’s staff can be used to close the portal.

Meanwhile, Fury’s superiors attempt to end the invasion by launching a nuclear missile at Manhattan. Iron Man intercepts the missile and takes it through the portal toward the Chitauri fleet before running out of power and plummeting back to Earth, but the Hulk catches him as he falls. Thor escorts Loki and the Tesseract back to Asgard, while Fury notes that the Avengers will go their separate ways until such time as a new world-threatening menace emerges.

During a post-credits scene, the Chitauri leader is grovelling to his master, stating that Earth is heavily guarded and attacking Earth “would be to court death”. A shadowy figure turns to the camera and smiles.

Captain America! My favourite! hehe

at first i feel that the story a bit draggy plus its less action packed as the last movie i’ve watched is battleship. so compared to this one, feel its a bit too light. More to dialouge.

But when it goes to climax, wow!

Seeing all the Marvel superheroes standing side by side, OMGG!!!

Ironman! Thor! Hulk! Hawkeye! Captain America! ahh……..

Plus its quite touching though, can see the unity when few characters with different personalities and abilities work together!

If you are Marvel fans, there’s no way you could miss it to watch in cinema! Definitely worth to the price!

Its not that heavy scifi actually..And in between of the storyline are funny. More to comedy+action genre for me hahhaa..especially Ironman. lol..So overall i feel very comfortable to watch..nor too boring nor too heavy.

Storyline great. visual effects thumbs up! Very very nice CG!

As for sfx, i feel its slightly less. Can be more impactful!

and the 2.5 hours movie also worth for your time!

Rating: 9.5/10

If you’ve watched, feel free to share your thoughts as well! =))
